nothing
A deeply unpleasant experience from check-in to check-out.
The problems started the moment I arrived. The woman at reception simply ignored my questions in English and made no apparent attempt to communicate with me. I can only assume she did not speak English. If my friend, who speaks Polish, had not been there with me, I genuinely doubt I would have managed to check in at all. Not exactly the level of hospitality one expects from a hotel accepting international guests.
Then there were the carpets. Everywhere. In the corridors, on every floor, and especially in my room. The smell was extraordinary - a charming mixture of ancient dust, damp fabric, and something that suggested an unsolved murder had taken place there several decades ago and nobody had thought to open a window since. The carpet in the room smelled particularly awful.
Because I had to leave earlier than planned, I requested an early checkout through the Booking.com app, one day in advance. I received absolutely no response. Nothing. When I eventually asked at reception about refunding the unused night, the woman simply told me that she could not refund anything. Taking payment for a night I explicitly informed them I would not be using, while completely ignoring my request, felt extremely dishonest. I was in a hurry to catch my train; otherwise I would have stayed to escalate the issue properly.
Finally, the hotel is located on a fairly busy road. Since the room desperately needed ventilation because of the smell, I had to sleep with the windows open. Both nights I stayed there, I could clearly hear traffic, with motorcycles being especially loud. So the choice was basically: close the windows and enjoy the smell of an archaeological carpet excavation, or open them and listen to traffic all night.
The one positive thing I can say is that leaving the hotel was a very pleasant experience. I would not stay here again.
dobre
