Excellent and extremely accommodating
Pros:

I can’t rate them highly enough. Martin was wonderful to deal with. It was a Monday night and as it was quiet he was lovely enough to give us a room upgrade where we had both park and street views. Double glazed windows and we slept perfectly. We will definitely return and try out the restaurant as that looked lovely to dinner in. The pawn star martini was top notch!

Cons:

Nothing

Second stay at the Ernest - we love it
Pros:

loved everything

Cons:

Water temperature in shower Room 3 - certainly not hot enough, would still be under the specified temp. Wastes a lot water before it even gets okay to hop under. Needs to be hotter.

Stylish, well-located and pretty luxurious for an indulgent Bendigo night or two.
Pros:

Location was excellent (walkable!) and the hotel - a former bank - is very gracious and well appointed. The room was on an upper floor, very spacious, lots of art and tasteful decor, with access to a balcony and a lovely, leafy outlook. The Terrae restaurant at ground level was actually outstanding. Probably the best meal we had on that road trip, including Melbourne. The wine bar across the road was also excellent.

Cons:

We had a few minor grumbles. For example, there is only one mirror in the room we were in, which is in the bathroom above the sink. It really could do with a full length mirror and there is plenty of wall space to have one. The other, related problem, was the poor lighting in the bathroom. Only an overhead light and it was a challenge to apply make up. To be honest, the bathroom is overdue a freshen-up. It was not a great design in the first place (in the 80s?. With its triangular spa-bath and overhead shower without a shower screen, it isn't very user friendly. It's too big, its shape is awkward and it makes it tricky to have two people in the room at once. I know that this isn't something easily changed so we just accepted it but a rectangular walk-in shower would be the go in the next iteration! One other thing to note - the toilet had been used and not flushed. It isn't that it wasn't clean otherwise; I suspect the cleaner used it while servicing the room and forgot to flush it. No harm done but a check of the loo should probably be on the checklist of things to do before closing the door for the next guests.

Not for the old people who needs a comfortable room.
Pros:

Nice looking renovation.

Cons:

Small rooms. Modern furniture that’s extremely uncomfortable.
No where comfortable to sit. The modern chairs look great until one tries to sit on them!
No breakfast service and there is no cafe nearby.

Memorable stay, would definitely return.
Pros:

Absolutely beautiful room. After travelling other parts of the world this was right up there with the best. Most importantly to me the cleanliness was second to none. The room had everything we wanted & needed. It pays to pay a little more for quality.

Cons:

Nothing negative to say.
