The Unicorn is situated in a great location by the river Trent and but the hotel looks tired
Pros:

The staff were very friendly

Cons:

The bedroom was very warm as there was no air conditioning and plaster was peeling off the ceiling within the shower.

Very disappointing. A very tired hotel that badly needs a lot of TLC.
Pros:

Only the location. Room was a good size but….. Comfortable bed and cool room.

Cons:

Very tired. Pretty much everything was tired and needs replacing. Poor breakfast. Poor value for money.

Great location let down by tired property and staff who seem to be more focused on themselves rather than their guests
Pros:

Its location is fantastic

Cons:

Very poor service at breakfast. Very Slow and some issues with quality. Full breakfast was ok. It’s very dated and in need of renovation . Cannot blame the hotel for the weather and heat but limited ability to cool room. Bar shut on the dot at 22.30 even though we were residents even on a Friday night with no forewarning

It was lovely to walk close to the Trent
Pros:

Breakfast and dinner were fine, we had dinner the day we arrived which was quite good, breakfast was ok but because of heat we were not hungry

Cons:

The hotel is in great need of redecoration etc, difficult with a wheel chair to move around with various doors to open etc.

A pleasant riverside hotel for a break.
Pros:

The room was reasonably spacious and there was plenty of storage space for clothing and personal items, which is unusual these days in many hotels. No need to live out of the suitcase. The view from the room looking out on the river was appreciated.
A good range of food in the restaurant with some offer deals too. The hotel is easily accessible from the A46 trunk road.

Nice location overlooking the river, pleasant staff, good breakfast, ideal one night stay
Pros:

Asked for a nice outlook and got a room with a nice big window overlooking the lake/river which was really nice. Makes all the difference to my stay to have a nice outloook and see tree's and water and just know they are there even once you close the curtains.
Nice pleasant staff.
Good breakfast.
Vast variety of help yourself breakfast items all layed out really nicely.
Big bed, comfortable.

Cons:

The room is a bit shabby and tired looking, probably could do with a refurb, but otherwise perfectly adequate and comfortable.
could have done with some more coffee sachets and only decaf, though I'm sure they would have accommodated if I had asked.
