Pros:

Unieke ervaring midden in de jungle. Lekker kunnen zwemmen in de rivier en het eten was erg lekker. Je krijgt elke dag gewoon wat er op het menu staat, maar wij vonden het alle keren erg lekker! Met een tour naar Semuc Champey geweest en terug in de tubes - dat vonden wij erg leuk!! Heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel, zouden het echt aanraden!

Cons:

Je bent in de jungle dus natuurlijk kun je insecten verwachten!

The people were great however and it was worth it.
Pros:

Exceptionally beautiful grounds and very remote location near the river.

Cons:

Because of the remoteness it’s difficult to not eat at the hotel and the food if a bit expensive for the portions, the activities are also a bit pricey

Pros:

A very no frills place that is surrounded by beautiful nature. The check-in staff was very friendly snd helpful.

I liked that excursions could be booked at the hotel. Also my transportation could be booked there as well.

There is a vegetarian/vegan menu. If you want to have dinner Utopia Eco provides a family style dinner. It's whatever they make on that day. You can order a full ir half portion. I didn't have breakfast or dinner while I was there.

Upon my departure, I did order a bagel with hummus. I ate it on my 11 hour ride to Panajachel. The bagel and hummus were very tasty.

Drinking water is provided and a nice quiet atmosphere with beautiful nature doesn't hurt.

Cons:

I understand why but I didn't like that I had to travel far to the bathroom. Lol. It wasn't all that bad but those night time or 3am bathroom runs are diabolical.

we loved the location! it is a remote quiet jungle area and its absolutely beautiful. the staff and owner are very nice people. food was delicious and everyone was very helpful. the sweet dogs made it even better. felt very nice to hang out at the place.

Cons:

unfortunately the rooms are not nice. very small, bed is very worn down. they ve offered a room change but other room had lots of bugs next to the bed due to huge holes in the walls and all matresses we ve seen were in bad condition. price should be adjusted as bath rooms are also shared and cold.

Very cool location
Pros:

Right by the river to go for a swim or hangout. It’s so peaceful and scenic. The staff are lovely. Did the semuc champey and tubing tour through them, got to tube right to the hotel (although water was extremely low). The food was good & free yoga

Cons:

The bed was so old and uncomfortable and the pillows were paper thin. Please replace them. I would give 10 stars otherwise

Cons:

Utopía tiene un entorno natural único, pero urge sumar frigobares y climatización eficiente para que el confort sea real y sustentable. Equipar bien las cabañas es el paso definitivo para cuidar al viajero.

Proche de la rivière et de Semuc, organisation des navettes et excursions au top !

Cons:

Chambre basique donc pas hyper confortable, prises électriques pas toutes fonctionnelles, pas d’eau chaude dans la douche

Locatie. Het eten was lekker. Het meeste personeel was behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Echter toen iemand onze verkeerde info over de betaling had verstrekt en een meisje van de staff ons inlichtte dat dit niet klopte was zij niet zo vriendelijk.

Cons:

Het huisje was zeer basic en absoluut niet schoon. Tevens lekte onze douche de hele badkamer/wc ruimte in waardoor langs het toilet overal water stond na elke douchebeurt. Geen kleine plas. Gewoon de vloer vol water.

Beautiful and relaxing place in nature
Pros:

Beautiful place in nature. Sooooo nice. This is the perfect place if you want to relax, rest, walk/swim in the river. Love the way everything was built mostly from wood - the main building but also all the furniture/tables - very nice and impressive carpentry.
Friendly people working there. You take all the meals there as it's too far from anywhere else but don't worry the food is good and filling.
Recommend 3 nights because all the shuttles arrive in the evening so this way you can have 1 day Semuc / 1 day chill at Utopia or other activity.
They offer Semuc tours, cacao tours and tubing from Semuc to return to Utopia. I walked to Semuc (40min) and tubing back - was fun!

Cons:

These things did not bother me at all but I write them to set other people expectations:

- Other guests were mostly couples and stick to themselves. This is not really a place if you are looking for a social or "party" time. As mentioned above, if you love to be in and around nature and chill you will love it. If you need a lot of social stimulation and activity maybe not.

- There was no electricity the first two nights and first day. It came back on the 2nd day until the end of my stay. If you are very addicted to technology and cannot be without wifi, this might not be the place for you. Bring a portable battery and head torch! I personally loved disconnecting and the candlelight evenings but for some this may be difficult. The room did get cool enough for sleep in the night even without fan (in late April).

Pros:

Es ist wirklich toll dort. Es war fast alles perfekt. Tolles Essen, tolle Gastgeber und einfach eine tolle Unterkunft. Das gemeinsame Abendbrot ist ein Highlight und die Lage toll.

Cons:

Als wir da waren, waren die kältesten Tage seit Ewigkeiten im Februar. Da es keine Fenster gab, wurde es mit 12 Grad draußen sehr frisch.
