Appenzell ist eine Reise wert und das Hotel Traube sehr zu empfehlen.
Pros:

Das Gesamtpaket dieses Hotels ist sehr gut. Lage, Zimmer, Personal…..auch das feine Essen am Abend in der urchigen Appenzellerstube und das Frühstück.

Breakfast and location good.

Cons:

For nighttime sleep, there were teens intermittently being fairly loud below our window. And with no screens in Switzerland, there were floodlights near our window that attracted a few bugs, as well as unwelcome brightening of room at bedtime. In hindsight maybe we would keep windows closed until later when lights turned off, to let some nice cool air in after hot day. The fan did help though.

Very friendly staff

Cons:

The property was very nice but the rooms were so small that there was no place for our luggage. The location was bad because there were church bells ringing across the street every half hour and the loud street cleaning machine came through at 7 am. It was hot so the windows had to be open. Nobody got any sleep.

Loved my stay, I’m coming back
Pros:

The building itself is super cute, the breakfast is amazing, the bed (I had a single) was small but since I’m only there to sleep, it didn’t really matter, the room is very functional and I loved it, the view from my windows was cute. Location: just 5min from the train station in the heart of this cute town. There is a beer garden just 1 min away and it’s a nice place to relax and have some beers.
You get perks in the city by staying in this hotel (min of 2 night I think): free transportation within the area
I truly loved my stay. The staff was super helpful and friendly.

Hervorragendes Frühstück mit regionalen Spezialitäten. Auf unsere Bitte wurde das Frühstück ausnahmsweise 30 Minuten früher serviert, sehr entgegenkommend.

Cons:

Für uns kein Problem, aber Deckenhöhe sehr niedrig.
