Hotel Square

Room was cold as no heating, hot water came out the cold water bath tap, bath had hairs in it, bath towels had hairs on them, chairs in rooms were foldable wooden ones, not comfy chair to sit on, bed ok, but needed more covers to keep warm. Breakfast was ok, but no milk brought to table with tea when we asked for it, ended up getting a glass of milk from cereal bar, no sideplate knives. Elderly person in company amd we were 43 stairs to get to room. No glass in bathroom for rinsing teeth.Condensation inside windows, probably due to lack of heating. Bedside light switch far to far up wall to reach, had get out bed to turn lights off. TV was wifi only and kept buffering, so turned it ofd as kept doing this evert 2 or 3 mins, couldnt watch live tv so no news or weather. Public Ladies toilets were dirty, and wallpaper hanging off the walls, no toilet paper in cubicle.
Door from dining room to outside could be closed off, make peopke use main entrance as the extreamly cold draft was awful when people came in, food got cold quicker due to this, as our table was next to door.

A few things not yet completed in renovation programme, but nothing major.

No general lounge area at all. The hotel's Booking.com page did not make clear that the restaurant is an Indian one, with very little choice outside of Indian cooking - and during my visit (start of September) there was nowhere else at all to eat in Tomintoul. Dinner on my first night: it took 45 minutes for the simple starter to arrive; main course took one hour (literally), and was totally not what I'd ordered, with minimal choice available when I had to insist on something else instead. Staff were apologetic and very polite, but seemed not to grasp how exasperating this situation is. Dinner on my second night was no problem at all, more than quick and good enough. Good choice of cooked breakfast, but very poor and limited selection of cereals.

Im Eingangsbereich hat es extrem nach der indischen Küche gerochen. Da es bei Ankunft sehr windig war, klapperten Eingangs- und Badezimmertür, weil die Fenster nicht dicht waren. Der Boden in unserem Zimmer war klebrig, sodass nochmal durchgewischt wurde. Die Möbel hatten Farbspritzer vom letzten Anstrich. Wir haben für das Zimmer für 3 Personen mit Frühstück 250,-- Euro bezahlt, was total überteuert war für das, was wir vorgefunden haben.

War etwas kühl; aber das lag am Wetter 🤣

It’s obviously being improved so at the moment it looks a bit run down

The hotel needs a general update throughout.

The bed was not comfortable at all, the toilet didn't flush ( had to use lots of force), shower didn't drain fast enough so had to watch not to flood the whole bathroom.
