The reception staff werent very attentive. The carpet and a wall in the room was stained. There was no air con so got a little warm. There are better deals to be had which aren't well advertised...we learnt some guests got much more for their money including an evening meal and drinks for cheaper than we paid for a standard night stay. We will just have to do better research outside of Booking.com

The flush on the toilet was very poor and the pillows weren't the best.

I stayed seven nights here in July 2026 as part of a family visit and holiday to Scotland (4 nights, then 1 week away in different location, then another 3 night stay), booked and paid for months in advance.
When I arrived late afternoon, ahead of my first stay I immediately informed reception that my room had a non-functioning toilet flusher. Hotel was fully booked, so when I complained, I was told to simply close the lid after using the toilet for the remainder of the day and night as they had no one on site to fix it! I didn´t accept this so was reluctantly given another room from a no-show booking, with the threat of having to move room again if they could not reshuffle future bookings.
The room was ok, but it turns out the hotel has a policy of only cleaning/servicing the rooms on a 3 day basis. We were only told this after requesting more toilet paper after the 3rd night. On arriving late back to the room on the 4th day we were locked out of our room (room key was presumably programmed for the original room booking and not changed for us). When we were finally granted entry to our room, it was not cleaned or serviced, so 4 day old towels.

I was reluctant to come back for the 2nd phase of our stay, but since it was already paid for I had to give it another chance. However, the issues contnued. The room was not clean - small paper remnants from the supplied tea/coffee provisions on the carpet, old blood stains on the wooden panelling in the bathroom (see pics). This hotel has clear issues with cleaning frequency and quality.

However, I will not give this place another chance. The catalogue of issues is simply not acceptable for a 4-star hotel.

Lack of dressing gowns and slippers that should have been in the room, poor signal to television so couldn't watch it. Following morning we went for breakfast and gave our room number and that was it, no good morning, no table seating, so we just found a table and helped ourselves. On returning to the room I was going to have a walk in the garden only to discover our door to the garden had been unlocked since we arrived, so all night and while we were at breakfast with our things in the room. At the price I paid for the room I expected better.

Helt katastrofal frokost. Så vidt noen skiver frukt å få tak i. Ferdig oppskjært brød og lite pålegg. For den som ikke liker tradisjonell skotsk frokost, var det helt krise. Små endringer i frokosten ville ha vært et enormt pluss. Virket som om hotellet gikk på sparebluss.

Desde el jueves hasta el lunes, 5 días y 4 noches, no hubo servicio de habitaciones. No recogieron las bolsas de basura, ni limpiaron baños ni cambiaron toallas. No entraron a ninguna de las 3 habitaciones que teníamos contratadas.

Das Zimmer selbst war mangelhaft. Der Safe ließ sich nicht öffnen, eines der Einzelbetten war instabil, von den zwei Fernsehern konnte nur einer eingeschaltet werden, die Zimmertür ließ sich nicht abschließen und das Fenster nicht schließen. Einen Kühlschrank gab es nicht. Der Handtuchheizer blieb während unseres Aufenthaltes kalt. Das Zimmer war einigermaßen sauber, wenngleich verwohnt.
Das Schwimmbad ist ausreichend groß, es gibt ein kleines Babybecken. Die Benutzung des Spa-Bereichs (Sauna, Dampfbad, Whirlpool) ist erst ab 18 Jahren gestattet. Schwimmbad und Spa-Bereich sind recht sauber.
Das Frühstück war selbst nach britischem Standard überschaubar.

In our experience, the toilet pressure is less than desirable, but it didn't affect our excellent stay.

Dated, worn, tatty

Toilet non functional and not attended to during period of stay despite multiple reports to staff. TV problem added to disappointment.
