Dreadful
Pros:

nothing

Cons:

It smelt of damp. Poor staff. I have nothing good to say about the place. I cancelled my booking and stayed somewhere else. It proudly boasts a 8.8 rating...I wouldn't give it 0.8.

A really good stopover location, something a bit different.
Pros:

We liked the olde worlde vibe of the place, the fact it's not a soulless chain hotel, and that it has real quirky character. The host was nice and friendly.

Cons:

Would have liked to have learned more about the history of the place, perhaps as a sheet in the in-room hotel pack. This had some helpful recommendations for where to eat, but would have been nice to know more about the hotel itself.

Unfortunately the owner was taken unwell and the poor son in-law was left to deal with everything, but he did a fantastic job in the grand scheme of things. 100 out 100

Cons:

No evening meal available

Very pleasant stay
Pros:

An old fashioned family-run hotel with lots of historical charm, overall a very pleasant experience. Our room was clean and comfortable, the shower was very good and the complimentary continental breakfast was excellent! Ideal for those travelling between Scotland and England and is very convenient for the M74.
I highly recommend this place and will likely stay there again.

Cons:

Like many old establishments, there are some areas that require some updating / tlc; the wifi was patchy though this did not detract from a positive experience. Overall still very good value for money though.
