Buena atencion del personal de la recepcion y del restaurante, el desayuno esta bien preparado
This is a cheap and (sometimes, depending on which member of staff is working) cheerful base to do some sightseeing in and around Santa Marta. We booked mainly as a place to leave our things while we spent a night in Tayrona. Female staff are very helpful and friendly (male staff not so much). Rooms were clean and the cold showers were somewhat welcome after a 5-hour hike in Tayrona.
Noise from the street can be heard at night. The hotel is right in the historic centre so this seems understandable to me, but earplugs may be helpful for some.
The cat is cute but should probably not be your only reason for booking (as we fear it may have been ours).
By the end of our stay we were oddly fond of the hotel and its quirks.
There is something slightly off about this hotel. There are a lot of strange rules that we can only think are a response to high turnover of "hourly use" customers. When we left to check out, staff locked the main door while they went and physically checked the room before we were allowed to leave. I don't think I have ever witnessed that before.
We were tagged with bright yellow bands upon arrival. This might be understandable in an all-inclusive hotel or in e.g. Tayrona, where there is an obvious need for it, but otherwise tagging tourists seems like a bad idea and served no purpose to us (again, possibly to deter "hourly use" customers?).
Staff service varied a great deal - from abject resentment to friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate but limited and I would not get excited about the promise of "happy hour" in the bar-terrace-jacuzzi.
The showers only have cold water, which does seem odd (we also stayed in Tayrona and had hot water. If a national park has worked out how to do this, I am not sure why a city centre hotel has not).
