Malekus Mountain Lodge

De locatie zelf, de tuin, de beekjes en de wandeling naar boven is echt een must. Het is een mini paradijs en de hosts zijn echt super vriendelijk! Het is alsof je bij famillie op bezoek komt met een overnachting. Verder is er onderaan de weg links een prima soda, Rancho La Cascada. Als je de wandeling doet vanaf Malekus Lodge? Doe het dan goed! Wij zijn 2 keer verkeerd gelopen omdat het bord wees naar links terwijl je eigenlijk rechtdoor moest. Ook zijn wij na het uitzicht over Nicaragua doorgelopen terwijl wij eigenlijk links het bos in moesten mogelijk naar een waterval? Hoe dan ook adviseren wij na dit uitzicht terug te lopen zeker als je geen laarzen hebt. Ons vermoeden is namelijk dat je 1 a 2 keer deels een rivier over moet steken. Maar goed we kunnen dit niet verifiëren. Ook zijn door de aardsverschuivingen een deel van de wegen weg maar goed dit was Juni 2026 (op een gedeelte waar we al te veel ver waren gelopen) en eigenlijk dus links het bos in moesten.

First, the owners of this property are incredible people. They went out of their way to make my stay the most pleasant experience. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful, from fresh local fruit to empanadas to eggs and avocado. I was hiking the volcano nearby (which this place is an awesome location for Volcan Miravalles), and the owners woke up early just to make sure I was fed before my journey. Next, the property itself is so serene. The trees, birds, and tropical life all around was amazing. I was able to read a book by a little lake by myself. I will definitely be back to this property and to visit the owner Roger and his lovely wife. Thank you!!

Sehr schöner Pool, sehr schön angelegter Garten

Very peaceful and beautiful grounds. Nice swimming pool! The hosts were family friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. Great birdwatching too!

Roger and Rosa were wonderful host. We enjoyed every minute at their wonderful property.

Als Zwischenstopp zum Nationalpark Rincón de la Vieja haben wir uns für diese Unterkunft entschieden und können es zu 100% weiterempfehlen!

Roger ist sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit. Der Pool hat uns nach der Wanderung erfrischt, auch den Sonnenuntergang konnten wir von seinem Grundstück aus bewundern. Am nächsten Morgen haben wir ein sehr leckeres Frühstück erhalten!

The time I spent at the Lodge was very relaxing, the grounds were beautiful and the food was excellent! My host, Roger and his wife Rosa made me feel very at home and welcomed. Rosa makes the best breakfast in Costa Rica!
I forgot a ring that my father had given me and Roger went out of his way to send it back to me, thank you Roger!

Malekus Mountain Lodge was absolutely lovely. Roger and Rosie went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They prepared a wonderful breakfast and were so, so friendly and gracious. Their property is gorgeous and the rooms are comfy. I particularly like the little walking path around the property and the fireplace that Roger helped me light in the common area. This place is an absolute gem and I would definitely stay there for longer next time and recommend it to others. Ps. If you need a hair dryer, just ask Roger. They don't have them in all the rooms, but they do have them. 😍 Thank you for the lovely stay, Roger and Rosie! 🙏❤️

The owners met me upon arrival and couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. Their home and land were beautiful, with the feel of a historic bed & breakfast set in the countryside. Everything about my stay was exemplary. The home was immaculate, comfortable and ideal for anyone who appreciates a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. The expansive property allowed me to go for a long hike in the beautiful mountains before winding down with a delicious dinner at the local restaurant. I would certainly stay again if my travels took me back to the area.

The location is exactly what I wanted when I was trying to get away from major cities but be able to commute to larger attractions. The nearby city has a super market and a few good restaurants for those looking to get away from the touristy parts of Costa Rica.

De eigenaren, Roger en Rosie, zijn enorm gastvrij en sympathiek. We voelden ons zo welkom! Vol enthousiasme vertelde hij over zijn landgoed en gaf ons tips en informatie over de omgeving en over de vervolgroute.

The property is rather mysterious when you arrive and then it’s a pleasant surprise to see the quality of the facilities out in the country like this. Roger and his wife are tremendous hosts. We were fortunate. We were one of only two or three guests and had the entire property to ourselves, including the pools.
