We enjoyed staying at Ty Gwyn and would stay there again.
Pros:

Ty Gwyn is a very old building with heaps of character. It is filled with interesting old artefacts and exudes a sense of warmth.

Cons:

It took a long time for a staff member to take our order after we were seated at our table. It was the same for other guests. However, the food was delicious.

A beautiful property with lovely staff and great breakfast but the room needed updating . Bed felt and looked lumpy and
Pros:

beautiful old property full of history with welcoming and friendly staff

Cons:

my room had a bathroom along the corridor which was as expected and bathroom was clean and modern. The issue was that the room was really, really dark and smelt of damp unfortunately. The little window was easily accessible to anyone accessing the back of the property so despite the really hot weather i felt i had to keep it closed for safety reasons. My sisters twin room ,not en suite , as booked, was fine. In my room the tiny tv was really old.

Pros:

Beauty of a hotel, excellent location, staff were excellent, breakfast was good. My room was spacious (twin room) with a good size TV in room, private bathroom was modern and spotless, sun terrace to watch the sun go down.

Cons:

Not enough car parking facilities for the size of the hotel, private bathroom is across from the room, door hinges need oiled as going to the toilet in the early hours they seemed to make the squeaking more louder but still a gorgeous place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay very much but would prefer a room away from the road
Pros:

The rustic charm with the modern facilities of the bathroom. Beautiful view and short walk to the local area. I really enjoyed my dinner and breakfast

Cons:

Limited parking which felt dangerous at certain times and road noise at night time.

Wonderful old coaching hotel experience
Pros:

A beautiful old coaching house in Betwys Y Coed. It's a bit of a walk out of town center but the property is special which makes it worth it. Some reviews comment on how "old" the place is which I find ridiculous, if you don't want to stay in a historic hotel then pick the more modern ones ... a real appreciation for the amount of work to keep a 16th century house functioning as a hotel needs to be had. There may be some cracks and creaks, so to speak, but the rooms are lovely and comfortable and the historic bar and restaurant are great to relax after a long day out hiking.

Cons:

The whole restaurant/bar area of the hotel gets extremely busy at night. The staff does their best but it's very evident they are overwhelmed .. I am not sure what the solution is here, as being busy is a good problem to have ... but it definitely feels a bit chaotic at night.
