The room was very good.
The evening meal food was very poor - the worst I remember being served anywhere.
The Manor House Hotel is a gracious old hotel located in a perfect spot next to the priory with spectacular views - all locational benefits for a visitor and the reason why we have returned to this hotel. However, it is like visiting a sick and aging relative, there is a rapid decline leaving concerns about the future.
On entry the hotel smelt unclean and grubby, seems like the dog friendly fanaticism was well entrenched with the odour of pouch to augment the stained and tired carpet. We upgraded our room choice this time and booked two nights, initially also booking dinner for the two nights. If you love the smell of kippers and fish our room would have pleased as it constantly smelt fishy. Dinner on night one was very average, not many choices or quality (off to the excellent Crown for night two). Perhaps the most profound issue, day two room refresh… doona tossed back over bed, pillows left where they had been slept on, bins not emptied and fresh towels tossed onto the end of the bed haphazardly and the foot towel not changed, wet and dirty. It was like telling a teen to clean their room!!I I never expected the Hilton but this was awful, rushed and shabby. No issues with the friendliness of the staff, they were polite and friendly, they just needed good leadership. We left resolved that future visits we would stay elsewhere, just not worth it and indicative of a hotel owned by a corporation out to profit…..
Location is good but we were located on the top floor, 3 flights for 3 disabled pensioners was just too much

The location is great. It’s a little tired/odd in the decor but better than a uniform modern hotel with no spirit. The staff were really friendly which was lovely

Cooked traditional breakfast was fine. Room was very comfortable and also had wonderful view of castle and harbour. Good village to stay in, quiet when tide is in and most tourists retreat to mainland.

Everything was perfect
We had a lovely welcome despite being a little early for check in. Whilst I gripe about the house keeping below, they did excel at the quantity of milk and beverages available in the room. Electric sockets were well situated. And breakfast (apart from eggs (below) was excellent, a great choice of drinks, cereals and pastries.
House keeping might want to pay more attention to how many toilet rolls they issue during changeover as we had only a nearly empty roll and no spare. During breakfast they had an issue with their gas supply so no eggs. Whilst that may seem bad, the staff were really accommodating at providing substitutes with some breakfast items.
