The Castle is in need of refurbishment and will be stunning when these are carried out.
The room was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly. However, what really made the trip was the exceptional food! The meal was creative, delicious and beautifully presented. It was inspirational. We met the chef and were so impressed by his passion for food and fresh local ingredients. The restaurant has only been open for a couple of months but I could see it becoming Mitchelin starred in the future. Foodie heaven!
Garden and some of the decor looking a little tired and needing updating. Instant coffee for breakfast!

Breakfast was great and staff were lovely.
The bed sadly has seen better days and there was a pretty limited selection at the bar.
The food was excellent. Room very spacious and felt like I was in castle. Bathroom was updated and clean, but layout awkward.
Grounds were in need of overhaul and flowers.
Grounds were the best. I booked international guests who wanted a UK castle-stay.
This property is under new management. I had paid in advance via Booking.com for my group and was with some embarrassment requested to pay again upon departure. There was no chef available several nights staying. Kitchen was out of order for one of our breakfasts. Often much chaos and swearing heard from the kitchen. Unfortunately super-nice staff (needed guidelines) but super-badly managed. This property is not clear what it is- an educational centre, a retreat, a low budget wedding venue. It seems to wish to be many things!

Needs investment. Gardens overgrown. Building tired. Lack of choice at breakfast compared to other hotels.
Beds uncomfortable, mattress needs replacing to standard of hotel. Old and saggy and very uncomfortable. Food way overpriced for what you get.
