Beautiful large grounds with picturesque outside seating. The drawing room is very nice with large windows for a good view.
The staff were incredibly polite and knowledgeable about the grounds of the hotel as well as about the food and drink, the waiter service was the best I have experienced at a Handpicked Hotel so far, probably anywhere I have ever stayed in fact.
The food and drink selection available is fantastic in quality. The sharing crumble was amazing.
The afternoon tea is very nice, there is a good range of items and it's a good value too.
Getting to the pool area is a bit of a maze but the facilities are clean, the water isn't too cold and it's a decent size.
The bedrooms have ample room and the bathrooms are very stylish and clean.
There didn't seem to be many general lounging and relaxing areas available apart from outside, it all seemed allocated to dining. There is a lounge style room but it still had an "eat here" vibe.
The walls of the bedrooms are quite thin so you can hear what's happening or being said in the next room, perhaps during quiet times if the hotel alternated between occupied and unoccupied rooms this could eliminate the issue.

Welcome was good, case delivered to room, Expectation was a suite (probably a feature room) but had two storey family room which would have been great for a family but we are in late 70s - however that was what we had requested. easy car parking. Lovely comfortable bed great breakfast fabulous grounds.

The staff were wonderful ,friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The hotel was beautiful.
The food was excellent but the menu was the same every day. Would have liked a more varied menu but couldn't fault anything else.

La struttura è fantastica, da sogno, sia all’esterno (il parco, le rovine, l’edificio in sé) che all’interno (le zone comuni, la sala ristorante, la biblioteca, etc).
Molto buona la cena al ristorante e la colazione.
Unica cosa che ci ha un po’ deluso è stata la pulizia nella stanza. Il letto e il bagno erano molto puliti ma c’era una grande ragnatela in un angolo della stanza con un grosso ragno che passeggiava sul tetto.

Lovely stay, staff are excellent and really make this hotel, a beautiful building and grounds. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, bathrooms a little dated but have everything. The pool and leisure facilities are lovely, very well kept. The spa treatments we had were also excellent, some of the best we have experienced
Food offering was variable, we had an excellent Sunday lunch when we arrived, and breakfast generally was very good, except for the first morning where the offerings were limited, and they had run out of a few things. Afternoon tea should have been excellent, but was spoilt by the somewhat stale scones. The staff in all the eating areas were attentive, polite and a pleasure to deal with.
