Lovely and cozy place
I bit far from station
The guest was super nice with us, she waited for us and was open to have a long chat during the evening while she prepared delicious tea.
スタッフが親切だった。
少し寒かった。風呂場が狭かった。風呂に行かなければ水道がなかった。泊まってみて、私は洋風のホテルのほうがいいと思った。
This hotel is a large building with multiple different houses and rooms. I personally couldn't see anything the reviews talked about in the rooms I stayed in. They were standard Japanese style rooms, with their own bathrooms. I was nicely asked to move rooms as there was a mistake with the booking. I had a small pantry kitchen (microwave, kettle, fridge) in first room, but the second one was missing the microwave.
There are plenty of restaurants nearby (and you get a map with opening times from the lady working the reception!) and there is a 7-11 in walking distance as well.
I booked at a time where there were little vacancies and this hotel offered the best balance between price and comfort from the vacancies that were left.
I was constantly fighting the warm water and showerheads in both rooms, but the second one was worse. Sometimes the hot water just cut out and there was a weird issue where the showerheads either had no pressure at all and all of the water came out of the faucet, or the pressure was so high it would hurt to use.
Also the rooms get quite bright in the morning, so I couldn't sleep in.
The hotel is located up the side of a mountain. The walk from Gora station is quite far and mountainous and the bus only stops in the valley, so if you're tired out from hiking in Hakone the climb up to the hotel can be quite strenous.
Our host was extremely friendly and helpful. She made sure we were set up right and any of our questions answered. The house was lovely with am excellent bathroom and shower area. The beds were very comfortable with amazingly effective blankets.
Hakone is just an expensive area. Basocally everything closes at 6pm and doesn't open until 9am. But, it was pretty manageable.
Our family was in Japan for 15 days-visiting both big cities and small countrysides. This property was a nice break from the traditional hotels we were staying in. We brought our 9 year old daughter and all agreed from the physical space itself, to the coziness of the bedding, this was a favorite for all of us-and we had some very nice hotel rooms. This place we lovingly called grandma’s house because we just felt taken care of. It was exceptionally clean, there were several varieties of tea set out for us, and again-the comfiest sleep we had in all the trip. We wished we had more time so we could have stayed more than a night.
It was a little more work to get to than our research had indicated. This isn’t really the properties fault by any means but likely just a shortcoming on our part of having never been to this area and relying on what we can find through our internet searches. If it’s a busy part of the day, do not rely on taxis to be readily available to get you where you want, instead plan to hike a little :)
Only suitable if you have a car. One to two Km from Gora Train Station down 1000 very step steps if walking and bus every hour. Had to get Taxi $16 & $20. Room futon made up but room very cold when we arrived, bath water freezing cold or boiling hot and only 1 set of towels. Then bug in my bed in the morning.
The apartment itself was spacious and really lovely. A traditional tatami mat and futon beds style room.
Lovely gardens at the complex and very friendly and helpful staff.
The apartment was very clean and exceeded our expectations when we booked.
Gora is really well located for doing hakone loop and especially getting ahead of day tripper crowds on cable car and ropeway.
The only possible downside is the distance to and from Gora train station. The apartment is up a steep street but there is a bus stop close by to get to gora and other destinations around hakone. Buses are a bit infrequent and don't run after about 6 pm. So we took taxis home in the evening and when taking luggage to/from.
The taxi rides only cost 1000 yen so not a major issue and 5-10 min trip.
Quiet place with no much interaction with staff
The WiFi signal was very poor in second floor
Beautiful Japanese style house and room
A bit too far, but it is the way that zone is
La belle taille de la chambre , couverte d’un tatami , vue sur le mont Fuji au loin .
Pas de douche dans la chambre .
Un douche collective se trouvait dans un onsen hors service.
Sanitaires assez rudimentaires, pas d’eau chaude.
