The Residences far exceeded our expectations.
We had a wonderful corner room with balconies that looked over amazing Matera.
We parked outside the old town and a shuttle was provided to take us to the hotel. All very easy with clear instructions given.
Easy walk to the main square and other places of interest as long as you don’t mind stairs.
Altogether a memorable stay.

At breakfast, the emphasis seemed to be more on sweet produce which wasn't so much to our taste.
The most beautiful cave rooms in the centre of Matera’s historical district. The hotel staff were wonderful and informative providing a detailed map of the city along with recommendations for walking tours and restaurants. Nothing was too much of an issue for them. We also ate a lovely meal at the hotel’s restaurant which we’d highly recommend. The complimentary organic wine and snacks on the terrace upon arrival was the perfect welcome. The included breakfast in the hotels rustic cave space was sensational. Everything about our stay exceeded expectations, would strongly recommend to anyone staying in Matera.

So amazing! What an experience
O ar condicionado não estava funcionando corretamente e não refrescava o quarto, em pleno verão com onda de calor. Eu avisei no checkin, o funcionário disse que checou e estava tudo ok que era só eu deixar ligado ao sair que quando voltasse o quarto estaria frio. Cheguei a noite e o quarto estava quente, chamei o funcionário que dessa vez admitiu que havia um problema e que eles esperavam ter solucionado até eu retornar, mas era isso não tinha o que fazer. Eu que precisei perguntar se eles tinham outro quarto pra trocar, ele disse que tinha um sem janelas, pedi pra ver mas imediatamente ao abrir a porta senti o cheiro fortíssimo de mofo, e eu tenho asma e não poderia dormir la. Perguntei se ao menos havia um ventilador pra me emprestar, ele disse que nao pois todos estavam sendo usados, mas insisti pois seria impossível dormir naquele forno, e ai ele foi procurar e voltou com um. Porém mal consegui dormir pois estava muito quente e o ventilador só espalhava o ar quente :( e pela manha estava mal. Enviei uma reclamacao e um pedido de reembolso de parte do valor e eles negaram duas vezes, alegando que eu dormi la. Claro, mais de 21h da noite eu nao conseguiria sair procurando hoteis para passar a noite! Quando o booking ligou pra eles eles ainda tentaram mentir contando uma versao diferente, e quando a atendente passou as informacoes que eu passei eles admitiram a versao correta. Um hotel dessa categoria jamais poderia oferecer um quarto com problema no ar condicionado em pleno auge do verao europeu, mentir que estava tudo certo ao chegar e depois mal se incomodar em tentar encontrar solucoes, e ainda mentir e depois se negar a reembolsar parte do valor. Se eles tivessem admitido o problema quando eu sinalizei no checkin eu teria tido tempo de procurar outro local. Não recomendo esse hotel a ninguém.
