The pancakes were decent.
The room was in terrible condition when we checked in: cockroaches, dirty towels, and a broken geyser. The host showed up unannounced late at night to fix it, ignored our request to come the next day, and even peeked into the room.
We wanted to hike Pidurangala Rock for sunset, but he falsely claimed there was a festival and that it wasn't possible. There were plenty of people returning from sunset hike on our way back. Instead, he took us to overpriced Kayaking where he clearly earned commissions, quoting 3× the normal price while pretending he was giving us a "discount." We later confirmed from other tourists about actual price. The next morning, despite clearly telling him we wanted to go to Lion Rock for sunrise (the main reason we visited Sigiriya), he charged almost 2× the pickme fare and dropped us at the Pidurangala Rock. By the time we realized what had happened, the sunrise was gone and he just ignored 5+ calls. We had to arrange another tuk-tuk ourselves, hike Lion Rock in the heat instead, and when we finally reached him, he blamed us for not realizing the wrong location, which was his mistake to start with.
I genuinely don't understand the high ratings and glowing reviews. We booked based on the reviews, but our experience was an absolute nightmare.

Je veux mettre en avant la bienveillance du personnel, et en particulier Madura. Il a pu nous organiser plusieurs transferts et activités, son implication a rendu notre voyage très agréable, une personne formidable.

La chambre est spacieuse et le jardin est très beau. Le petit déjeuner était excellent, le meilleur de nos hôtels au Sri Lanka ! Il y a une dizaine de minutes de marche jusqu’à l’entrée du rocher du lion.
Nous avons eu des gros cafards et des grenouilles dans la salle de bain : heureusement qu’il y a une moustiquaire !

Location (a bit away from main market but it was beautiful), greenery in the property, cleanliness, breakfast was very nice, staff were helpful and polite.
As the property is away from main market, it can get difficult to walk around after dark.
