Beautiful room, warm, comfy bed and well appointed, with a view. Tony was very accommodating (we were their in winter and it was extremely quiet. Lovely old building. Fantastically warm thermal spring pool to enjoy.
As the hotel was very quiet in the off season, the common areas were cold.
The room was comfy, but very basic, nothing extra, and there is no food available except at a local store that seems to close quite early, didn't use the pool. The pub staff were nice
If we had known there was no cafe or food available we would have made sure to have some before we arrived, and to find the only local store had already closed by 3pm was a surprise. We were able to use the kitchen but it was huge and hard to find what we wanted.
An old fashioned Hotel.
We requested ground access when we arrived and was given a little hut to sleep in. It is obviously being renovated because the floor boards in the passage where a bit creaky. The showers were beautiful. I don't think the house was ready to be occupied because it was a bit grubby and didn't have the cleaning equipment there for us to do it (i.e. vacuum cleaner, mop etc) We would've been willing to do it but we are just very grateful we had this hut and of course the hot pools are always a bonus.
Nothing...
I liked the age of this old historical wooden hotel, a beautiful old girl with many old fixtures. The bedrooms were small but well-appointed, clean and comfortable. The host was lovely. We arrived late and hungry. We had food with us, and he offered us the free use of the kitchen and dining room. There were few guests and we were allowed free access to the hotel areas. The ancient hot pool was a great experience located in a large outdoor garden area. There were extensive grounds with lovely trees behind the hotel.
Bathroom was a shared one but again expected in such an old hotel.
Rooms clean and beds comfortable.
Liked location.
I wish there were enough guests to warrant opening restaurant.
Its an old hotel with lots of history but they are letting it fall to bits.
Comfortable beds and good bathroom.
no cafe -- no TV -- microwave didn't work -- proprietor not available most of the time -- very minimal supplies in room and no milk.

The beds were clean and really comfortable with nice linen and duvets. Our room was spacious with a neat view and we loved the old world atmosphere. The bathroom was right next door and therefore easy to access at night. Best of all, the hot pools are so relaxing...we slept like babies and the place was lovely and quiet. The hosts are very kind and we loved Ava, the little ballerina dog!
The key was a bit of a fiddle to get our door open and it would be nice to have a coffee plunger available if needed.
Old property in the outback
Mice in room, sheets had been used & loud music all night till we left! Owner didn’t appear to care & offered us another room in a quieter location after complaining about noise & additionally without mice!! Suggesting we left the window open!!
I think it’s the only hotel in the village. Large room. There’s a hot spring pool in the back of the property.
It’s an old hotel with no lift. Doesn’t seem to be anything to do around here. We had two nights booked but weather was bad so we bailed out after one night and went back to Wairoa.
