Pros:

I really liked the communication and the staff. Overall, I felt very comfortable during my stay. Whenever I had any questions, I could easily message them and always received help.

The location is also quite good. The hotel is in the Old Town, and there is a train station and a bus stop nearby, making it easy to get to the main attractions or other parts of the city.

I also liked the hotel’s overall interior design. The rooms were very stylish, and I especially loved the bathroom—it was beautifully designed.

Cons:

I would describe this place as something between a hotel and a guesthouse rather than a traditional hotel.

There is no elevator, which is understandable given that it’s an old building. However, our room was on the third floor, and carrying luggage up the spiral staircase wasn’t very convenient.

Housekeeping is only provided if you ask the staff to clean the room or change the towels and bed linen. Some guests may prefer the extra privacy, but if you’re expecting daily hotel service, this might be a downside.

The air conditioner was quite old and sometimes difficult to use. It was installed directly opposite the bed, so we had to manually adjust the airflow to avoid it blowing straight at us. The pillows were also not very comfortable.

The biggest issue was the sea-view room we originally booked on the top floor. It became extremely hot because of the wooden ceiling, and even with the air conditioner running, it still felt like a sauna. In my opinion, this room is not comfortable during the summer. Thankfully, the staff immediately moved us to another room, which was much better, although it no longer had the sea view. Since the sea-view room costs extra, this was a little disappointing.

Overall, these were relatively minor issues that affected our comfort but certainly didn’t ruin our stay. If you’re looking for the experience of a large hotel chain, you may notice the difference. Otherwise, it’s a pleasant place with friendly and helpful staff.

Pros:

We had a lovely stay at Sofia Konaklama! It was our first time in Istanbul and the location was a perfect for this. We were walking distance to many amazing attractions but in a quiet street so we didn’t get too overwhelmed by the chaos of Istanbul. Many great restaurants in the neighborhood too. However, Abdullah’s hospitality is what made our stay at Sofia Konaklama very comfortable. He gave great recommendations and answered all of our questions about how to best navigate and enjoy the city. I will book a room again the next time I am in Istanbul

Amazing staff, the perfect option near attractions, food and transport
Pros:

Location is great for the price and right next to many restaurants. Main attractions are walking distance and there are also shops nearby to get water and snacks. Staff were incredible and so helpful, they made the trip better as a result with their advice. Always happy to be messaged on WhatsApp with questions about best travel and the attractions.
