Es el único hotel de la pequeña isla de Corvo, aunque se alquilan algunas habitaciones en casas. Se llega a la isla con el (casi) único propósito de visitar el bellísimo cráter volcánico de O Caldeirão, en la parte alta de la isla. Hay que venir con excursión desde Flores o alquilae un servicio de taxi, que, en poco más de hora media - si no decides rodear a pie el cráter - te lleva a los miradores, la Praia d'Areia y otros puntos de la isla. El precio del hotel incluye desayuno de bufet de tipo continental, de 7:30 a 10:30 (panes diversos, embutido, queso, mermeladas, mantequilla, café, etc.).
Todo ello en una amplia sala común donde también hay dos grandes sofás y un televisor. El Comodoro no ofrece comidas y la oferta de restauración en la isla no es mucha, destacando el restaurante que está justo al lado del aeropuerto, que cataliza la mayoría de servicios a la hora de comer, cenar o tomar algo.
El personal es muy amable, como en genral lo es en todos Os Açores, y facilita toda la información que se le requiere. El hotel está siempre abierto, pero la recepción no es de 24 horas, pues a la isla sólo llegan, además de las lanchas de ida y vuelta que parten en Flores, un par o tres de aviones al pequeño aeropuerto y un ferry diario (12 personas, hay que ser muy previsor en reservar si se quiere seguir viaje a Flores en un trayecto de 40 minutos en barco).
La ventaja que representa poder hacer el check-out a las 11h. de la mañana tiene como contrapunto que no se puede hacer el check-in antes de las 14:00.
No obstante se pueden dejar las maletas dentro del hotel en un armario NO vigilado - aunque aquí no hay riesgo de que nadie se lleve nada, dadas las circunstancias geográficas y de comunicaciones con el exterior.
