Cons:

I've booked the De Lux room at more than a R1000 per night. The room was SO small that I didn't had anywhere to punt my small overnight suitcase.
The kitchen was SO small that I didn't have any space to put my small (20cm x 20cm) coolerbag.
Not a single chair in the bedroom.
AND ON TOP OF IT ALL, A SINGLE ELECTRIC BLANKET WAS PUT ON A DUBBLE BED!!!!!
I called the manager and showed him all the problems. Nothing was done about it. Not even a R500 discount or a free breakfast.

Disappointing
Pros:

Beautiful location, well maintained gardens.

Cons:

Room had NO hot water, phoned reception, and they gave us another room key and said there was hot water in that room 2 doors down.. which there wasn't! Only found that out a minute into my shower when the water just disappeared. After my cold shower, I had to walk outside in 5-degree weather to get back to my room. Electric blanket only worked on 3, so I woke up freezing cold as I turned it to 1 before falling asleep, and it wasn't working. TV has so many apps but isn't logged in, so could just as well not supply a TV. Booked room for 4 people and got 2 glasses for water. Checked out, handed my keys to reception, and wasn't even asked if everything was okay, did I enjoy my stay... nothing. The family downstairs also had no hot water and was offered keys for the next door room, so it's obviously pretty normal.. they mentioned something to do with their solar setup, but for paying guests, its unacceptable, especially as it was very, very cold in Aliwal. Maintenance in the rooms is very overdue. We were rather disappointed as the location is beautiful.

Pros:

We had a lovely and very comfortable stay at The Riverside Lodge and Conference Centre. Our room was spotlessly clean and quite large. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a very tasty breakfast in the restaurant. I would be very happy to return anytime.

Loved the location and the staff very nice

Cons:

We were on the ground floor the people upstairs spent half the night walking up and down. The staff start making noise around 8am you cant really sleep in
