Excellent location for the races
Nothing
Convenient for the race course. Plenty of parking.
Bit pricey. Breakfast also expensive.
Nice
Bit dated
Location,- shops, pubs frequent bus service to town nearby.Racecourse nice for walking.Room was cool during hot weather.Kettle great and tea Milk, tea coffee packets etc by main door is a big improvement.Breakfast is fantastic.Way better than USA.
No small fridge in room.No bottled water. Stepping in and out of bath a bit tricky for elderly. I’m 75.Could some rooms have walk in showers? Ive been staying several years - the carpet is a bit aged.New bed arrived during my stay -very nice.Cleaner very efficient and friendly.
Breakfast poor
Location was good and the room was comfortable.
Nothing
We had stayed at this hotel in 2023, the facilities have since been upgraded and it was pleasant surprise to see that the whole bar, restaurant and breakfast area had been totally refurbished. The fact that the car parking is free and there is a local bus stop close to the hotel means that you can leave your car safe and secure and use local transport to visit the town centre.
This year we made a visit to the National Railway Museum, for which my wife was not too keen, but we both thoroughly enjoyed whole experience.
There was nothing to dislike. We both enjoyed the stay and would definitely choose this hotel again if we return to York.
Comfortable...good location and value for money
Tables in the breakfast room were not cleared very quickly...so if you came down later for breakfast you had a job to find a clean laid table. Lack of staff maybe?
Also I put the sign on our room door to ask for them NOT to come into our room...but they ignored it and came in anyway...and I had left personal things lying around which I wouldn't have if I'd known...not happy
Checkin ok. bar and restaurant ok.
Room and bathroom tiny
Well absolutely will never return! Drove 5 hours to come to York for a funeral.
Arrived at 10pm and barely a hello from the receptionist, no smile at all and not interested in conversation. Gave us our room key, family room with a sofa bed.
Walk in and it’s not made up or any duvet. We attempted to pull it out but it was rammed in and I cut my hand. We asked for help and told receptionist the bed wasn’t made. No real apology.
15mins later no one had come up so I went down. The lady came up and just went “oh it’s broke” and said we need to find a room.
No one came back up so I went downstairs to the reception. And was asked are you ok? I said no, I want to be in bed. They said we are sorry so half hearted. I said it’s completely unacceptable to even make up a bed for a booking.
We asked if one of us was moving or all and they said we don’t know. So my 3 year old nephew was left not being able to go to sleep.
After 30mins of being there we got told u are all moving. Why they couldn’t have said that before I do not know. So we walked down with him in his pjs to a new room. Oh but this room the air con didn’t work!
We were so tired we just went to sleep.
Loud banging doors throughout the night, noise from the car park.
The manager and receptionist on check out were lovely, but the damage had already been done.
We would never return to this hotel.
The customer service is extremely poor
Excellent location. Bus route very good in to central York and goes frequently. Car park is large and had no trouble getting parking space.
We had a family room but the sofa bed was very small especially for two teenagers. Breakfast was good but kept running out of coffee cups and glasses, so had to keep asking to restock items.
Better than it used to be.
Air conditioning worked.
Room we had was tired and [grey painted] drab looking. Too expensive with few facilities. TV remote control needed attention. Tiny toilet / shower room facility.
No room cleaning was carried out after our first day staying there. We had to ask for some fresh towels and tea bag refreshments.
