We had booked for two nights but due to my husband being unwell only stayed one night.

Great location, clean and comfortable. Good facilities and a fair price. Would stay again.
Pros:

The room was clean and although in need of redecoration it was cheerful enough. The bathroom was very clean and everything worked well. The shower was great. The bar and restaurant was a pleasant place with friendly staff.
As it was so hot during our stay, it would have been nice to open a window, but as we were on the first floor, they had been locked for safety.

Cons:

I really enjoyed our stay at the holiday in. But for some reason, in the room, it was not possible to view terrestrial channels - BBC or ITV. We could however watch the BIg Bang Theory over and over again!
Also on the negative side, at the bottom of the stairs, there was a large clear plastic garbage bag full of rubbish. This had been left at the bottom of the stairs, not hidden or tucked away but left by the wall for all the guests see and to walk past.
It was presumably to be disposed of. Yet this obvious eyesore remained where it was for the 2 days we were there. Everyone had to walk past it, and I couldn't believe this pile of rubbish had not been removed. This was glaring lack of good house keeping, and possibly a lack of supervision that reflects very badly on the other staff, which is undeserved. Perhaps a small thing I know, but so obvious, it does question the hygiene and care of the rest of the premises.

Clean room and communal areas, we'll stocked, modern bar and excellent choice of breakfast buffet. Beds were super comfy with aircon and honestly never heard a noise once the door was closed.

Great stay, brilliant hotel. Would recommend if going to York races. Racecourse was short walk distance from hotel. Bar&
Pros:

Room was spacious. Air con was a positive due to the very warm weather. Hotel facilities great. Perfect location for York races.

Cons:

Air con would switch off after a period of time, therefore room was warm on return and during the night until switched back on.

Fabulous stay all round - wish every Holiday Inn was like the one in York!
