However, considering the very reasonable price we paid, none of these issues were a major concern. Overall, a good stay
Pros:

We had a pleasant stay at Bao Phuc Hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, with very little to complain about, although the bathroom was a bit worn and could use some renovation.

The location was perfectly fine, and breakfast was simple but good, with several options to choose from, including vegetarian choices.

A special mention goes to Jenny at the front desk, who was extremely friendly and helpful! We also booked a day trip with Cat Ba Eco Tours through her (700,000 VND per person), which we can highly recommend. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore the beautiful Lan Ha Bay. The tour was very well organised, the people were friendly, and the experience felt much less crowded than we had expected.

Cons:

As mentioned in some other reviews, housekeeping was a little unusual. Staff came into the room to provide fresh water bottles and towels, but neither made the bed nor emptied the rubbish bins.

Another minor downside was the noise in the evenings. The narrow staircase carries sounds throughout the building, so even on the third floor, noise from the staff could be quite noticeable.

Die Inhaberin war freundlich und hat für uns den Transfer nach Cat Ba organisiert. Außerdem hat sie uns einen guten Rollerverleih empfohlen.
Leider hatten wir einige Ameisen im Zimmer. Wir haben es angesprochen und wir konnten ohne Probleme das Zimmer wechseln.

Das Zimmer hätte sauberer sein können.

Pros:

Reservamos una habitación y Jenny se encargó de organizarnos tanto el transporte de llegada, como de salida y el propio tour. Ademas nuestro transporte llegó tarde de Hanoi y teníamos esperándonos un barco privado para llegar al crucero sin problema. Es una genia!

Excellent stay in Cat Ba! It's right by the lake, pretty quiet and very comfortable. Close to restaurants and cafes, and walkable distance to Titi beach and the new beach too.
Staff is very nice, especially Jenny who's super nice and accommodating!
We stayed there for 2 weeks, felt at home. Good value, recommended!

a good quiet base in Cat Ba town
Pros:

great location for being away from the noise on the main strip - would recommend here for a quieter spot! the room was spacious enough and well appointed, and Jenny on reception was friendly and helpful!

Cons:

the breakfast was okay but not particularly big or tasty (which is absolutely fine when it's free!), and Jenny is the only member of staff who speaks English so it was tricky to communicate with others e.g. when my key card stopped working (again, can't complain as I'm the one who can't speak Vietnamese!)

Pros:

De host, Jenny was heel behulpzaam en lief. Ze kende alle gasten bij naam. We hebben via het hotel een boot tour geboekt, die was ook goed geregeld. Ontbijt was via een menu, zeker in orde. Ligging is heel fijn aan het water.
