Good location
Had no power to half the room. No electrical, no t.v. They came and looked on a Sunday, but maintenance doesn't work Sunday. No one came Monday either!
Good location close to airport, breakfast very good, room clean and tidy
Bit noisy due to hosting wedding
Friendly staff in reception
Great location, beside the Centra shop and bus stop around the corner which is handy to get into town.
Hotel is a bit dated in places however overall we enjoyed it and hope to return soon
Our room had only one small window that opened during that hot spell of weather
However a fan was provided for use
very friendly staff in both of the restaurants. excellent breakfast. good quality and choice of meals for the evening with offers available for those on a tight budget.
Don't be put off by the shabby looking exterior of the building. The rooms are modern and comfortable. They are also clean and regularly serviced. The room key had to be reset on a couple of occasions which is pretty irritating when you have got upstairs and have to come back down to reception.
Fitness centre and the bar attached are the best things about it… Not sure if same owners anyways. First night I ever stayed here I saw and recorded bugs in my bed and showed a member of staff, who told me there normally in the bathroom and it’s weird and then looked at me as if that explains it all and sorted my issues. So I checked and cleaned it myself and luckily I’m not scared of insects and bugs so I put up with it but I was only looking to change rooms. The staff member by the lack of solutions and telling me he’s never seen bugs in the bed, he thought I was trying to get a free stay.
My only positive is I think he said he’s the night shift manager and is Brazilian maybe? I didn’t catch his name but please if anyone in that place deserves power in that place it’s that guy. He has a good heart and treats anyone with respect. After daytime manager refused to let me pay on checkout (which I of course rang and triple checked I could do beforehand) I had to sleep in the corridor and when I explained the situation to him he said he couldn’t allow me sleep on the floor and let me stay on a sofa. This guy is what a manager has to have. He cares about people!!! He had no clue how much I’ve spent there and didn’t question helping, but others need to learn the same as they knew how much I’ve stayed recently and still refused pay on checkout for starters after paying 10x the amount over 3 weeks with them😂 huge respect to that guy and I will be speaking with the owner about the whole experience.
2 things.
Key card has to be re activated nearly every time you leave the room so 95% of times I walked all the way to 5th floor to my room and th keycard wasn’t working. Staff said “we might need to update our system.” No apologies or sympathy and treated it as if this is standard. I feel bad for all the elderly guests who had to deal with this.
Secondly, majority of staff are nice and normal. (Mainly the younger staff/ receptionists) but majority of the higher members of staff at the desk are extremely cheeky if that’s the right word to use. First night after just checking in the German manager guy (he is the worst of them) had said he knows I’m doing frugs and to keep it down!! I kept my cool and assumed it’s because I’m young but I explained I wasn’t and I’m alone, which he replied that doesn’t mean I can’t do myself!!!
Many more small comments from him that quite clearly were said to make me feel uncomfortable. Each time I rebooked a stay he would ask if I’m gonna be rebooking again or is this the last. I let it all go and said nothing but now I’d like to speak to the general manager about everything I’ve experienced over my stay (which I’ve easily spent 2-5 grand over the last month with your hotel) and still no change in attitude. Was even woken up to a call accusing me of putting a sock on the fire alarm by the same man. Firstly, was far from true to begin with but I’m concerned about
A. Who was coming into my room without my knowledge? He said it was reported to him so he’s saying that someone either came in my room to check on me or there’s cameras or something to see an exact object and confidentially accuse me when the only way that could be true is if I was being watched without my permission. Creepy whole experience
Not much to be honest
Room was shabby and tired looking...towels were stale, hazard tape outside main entrance on broken stair rail, lifts small and slow. Room cards repeatedly failed. Lots of disheveled folks loitering outside, felt unsafe. Needs a good refresh
