Location was first class and what a view!! Enjoyed breakfast on the terrace and had dinner a the hotels couple of times and was excellent. Steep walk to the hotel but it’s a short one and worth it. Sant Angelo was the most beautiful place we have discovered so far on the island. A great recommendation from friends.
Absolutely nothing. Beaches are ok though I don’t think Italy has the same type of beaches as Spain or France.
Stayed here with friend and loved it! Staff were all part of the same family and were so welcoming. Breakfast was perfect with lots of options, AC was great, the dinner (if you choose to do it) was all home cooked and delicious so highly recommend. It’s a slight hike to get here if you have a checked bag but there are carts located right below that can drive you up if needed. The beach was are had a bar and great food options so it’s easy to walk to the beach once and stay there for the rest of the day. Also located close to town which makes it super easy to explore.
Amazing view, very relaxing and excellent breakfast
Beautiful hotel, in a beautiful setting in Sant Angelo. The family who run the hotel made us feel so welcome from the minute we arrived until the minute we left and would do anything to make your stay more comfortable. The beach bar is within walking distance and is a great place to relax. The food at hotel & beach bar was exceptional! Home cooked authentic Italian cuisine.
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like about the hotel.
Amazing views, delicious food and friendly staff. <3 We will definitely be back x
The walk up to the hotel can be a bit tiring (the views make it worth it) and the wifi is a little slow.
- Amazing location with panoramic view from an upper hill (really worth the effort to walk up and enjoy impressing Sant'Angelo)
- Familiar and very friendly staff, available anytime for help
- Excellent breakfast and dinner on awesome terrace
- Relaxing and cosy environment
- Easy access to the beach
This was my first time visiting Ischia and Villa Maria in Sant'Angelo was a great boutique hotel experience. The view is exceptionally beautiful (especially at the sunset dinners), the staff is mostly family and they are friendly and accommodating, and the building has a great old school Italian vibe. It's an authentic, special place to stay. The menu was very good and thoughtfully planned with unique antipasto, primi and secondi dishes offered every night (€30 per person). In the morning, the buffet is continental with coffee service from the servers. I would recommend eating at the hotel a few nights and venturing out a few nights. The A/C was excellent after very hot days at the beach.
Nonna is the best!
This isn't a place to stay if you're looking solely to relax. It's a bit cumbersome to get to, but that's also what makes it special. If you arrive from the ferry/hydrofoil, go to Forio from Naples. A cab will cost you around €30-50 to get to Villa Maria (and more if you leave early morning.) Once you arrive, only golf carts are allowed on the hill's narrow paths and your luggage needs to be taken uphill via golf cart (we got a surprise charge for €15 for bringing it down the day we left). The walk uphill from the two nearest beaches (our favourite was Spiaggia delle Fumarole) is kind of brutal at the end of the day in the hot sun, but it's doable. You can also take a golf cart up for €4 per person (but you need to call and wait). I wouldn't recommend this particular hotel for people unable to walk up steep hills or for families with babies and toddlers (although the babies get a lot of sweet attention at the hotel :). I also wished our room had a fridge for water, beer, wine and snacks. You can use the hotel fridge, but it's not as convenient. It sounds like a lot of complaints, but my family and I had an amazing stay at Villa Maria and we would go back.
