Property was great, staff friendly, room amazing and great location
Great location, food and staff
I'm over 6ft and 16st, the bathroom was way too small. Bedroom only had one small window that looked across an entry to a wall.
The staff were so lovely here. Friendly, smiley, helpful. Dinner was lovely, we ate here 3 times. Good location, just a short walk from the railway station, so an easy and fast journey to Grange for a morning out. Other options for day trips by train, good to be able to leave the car behind.
Not a lot of parking at the hotel, managed to get parked on the street across from the hotel but imagine this would not be so easy in high season. Couldn`t sleep properly first night as room was roasting in the hot weather and no aircon. Sun had been beating into the room so probably the curtains need to be kept closed on a sunny day to stop room being warmed up before someone checks in. Mechanical extract ventilation didn`t seem to come on when you used the toilet, not sure it came on when the shower was used. Automatic switch on of the ventilation activated by the light switch with a 20 minute run time would be welcome.
Lovely spot .beautiful views .convenient for walks ,train .
View, sausage for breakfast, beef pie for dinner
TV remote was iffy in Estuary and out of date info in welcome folder
Great location, comfortable accommodation and good food at the Fighting Cocks
Nothing
Location
Stopped serving food very early (in the evening), breakfast and the servers were excellent
The property was in an ideal position to see the viaduct across the bay.
Our room was cramped and extremely hot, 29c, right under the eaves so lots of stairs. The fan provided was not up to the job. The room was largely clean but the stairs and paintwork on the corridors was very dirty. The shower in our room provided lots of hot water but sounded like an engine revving up, I have never known such a noisy shower. We found the staff to be uninterested, preferring to chat amongst themselves to helping guests, with the exception of one young lady who very kindly gave us a carafe of iced water to help with the heat in the room.
There was insufficient parking in the car park to accommodate guests so we had to park on the road 2 nights. The one disabled space was allocated to occupants of one room.
We had trouble getting internet in the room even using the password provided in the welcome book, later mentioning this to the staff I was informed that they knew this as the password had changed but they hadn’t bothered changing the information given to guests.
We didn’t get breakfast as we found the time slot of 8-9am didn’t suit us. We were surprised at the short time slot as most hotels give at least a couple of hours.
When asked about gluten free the waitress just said she didn’t know, upon prompting her to ask we did eventually get an idea of what might be possible. Nothing was marked on the menu, and one person told me it was illegal to put gf on the menu, which is incorrect. The food when it eventually arrived was very nice.
We were shocked at the price of two drinks, a cider and a Malibu and pineapple which cost around £15.
Location easy to find
Been here a couple of times now and cant fault it. We have stayed in the hotel and in the seperate part rooms are comfortable and lovely great beds and pillows. What can i say about the lakes breakfast absolutely delicious. The staff are so welcoming love it here. The location is perfect we havev already booked our next visit.
Nothing to report.
We had two rooms booked for a catch up with family. Tony could not have been more helpful and made sure we had rooms which suited our needs. Breakfast was varied, from fruit to full English and our evening meal was excellent. A perfect seaside break
An excellent stay
Wonderful breakfast. Fantastic views from my top floor room. Delightful beer garden that is elevated and has great views. Good dining options
All good
