The Mustang Blu is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and unique boutique hotels I've experienced in Bangkok. The architecture, interiors and attention to design are extraordinary. Unfortunately, my experience of the service was completely at odds with the warmth and hospitality I expected from a hotel of this calibre.

From the moment I arrived, I felt more like an outsider than a welcomed hotel guest. My first interaction was a rather cold "Can I help you?" before being directed to reception. Check-in then immediately revolved around choosing breakfast, photographing the hotel's only copy of the breakfast menu, and being taken through a list of rules and things guests were prohibited from doing. There was very little sense of an actual welcome.

Later, after already checking in, I returned to the almost-empty restaurant and was again asked whether I was a hotel guest. On another occasion, with only one other table occupied and around six staff present, the atmosphere strangely felt more like being watched than being looked after. I was immediately informed the kitchen was closing, then told only two of the five beers listed were available, followed shortly afterwards by another reminder that the restaurant itself would soon close.

None of these things individually would normally bother me. The problem was the accumulation of them. Almost every interaction seemed to communicate a rule, restriction or limitation rather than warmth, engagement or hospitality.

I'm certainly not expecting five-star corporate-hotel service from a quirky independent boutique property — in fact, that's precisely why I chose The Mustang Blu. But when paying a premium price, I do expect to be made to feel welcome.

The Mustang Blu has created something genuinely special aesthetically. I just wish the human experience matched the beautiful surroundings. With warmer, more intuitive hospitality, this could be an exceptional Bangkok hotel.

Une ambiance singulière et atypique. Cet établissement vaut le détour pour son originalité. Le petit déjeuner est copieux et délicieux. Le personnel très avenant et aidant. Le quartier est sympa avec quelques bars pour le soir. Proche métro pratique

J’adore l’ambiance hors du temps de cet hôtel, tout est posé avec précision pour donner un mood unique : signature olfactive incroyable pour moi , le petit déjeuner dans la salle principal est servi par un personnel attentionné, la déco incroyable de chacune des chambres,le style cabinet de curiosités mélangés avec Out of Africa et une playlist hors du temps, avec pour moi l’ambiance du livre L’ombre du vent de Zafon 😮
