Great value, a comfortable night’s sleep with an excellent breakfast and warm friendly staff

The staff were excellent and the beds so comfy

Cons:

The steep stairs may be an issue for some but unavoidable as it’s an old property. Maybe just something to be aware of

Nice wee place with lovely view of the harbour

Small critique. the room I had was top floor, the slanted ceiling left me bumping my head as I got in and out of bed, no mirror in room for the wife to do her hair and stuff

Very comfortable and great for a family stay.
Pros:

It is in a beautiful part of Scotland and Tarbert is lovely, with some great places to eat and explore. The breakfast was lovely too.

Bellissima e comodissima camera proprio sul porto di tarbert. Non disponibile il ristorante poichè ha chiuso, ma la colazione viene servita nel luminoso ex ristorante. Colazione molto buona, pub molto vivace. Nonostante la presenza del pub, le stanze sono molto silenziose. Presenti ristorantini sul porto molto buoni, e proprio dietro l’hotel il castello del posto.
Staff gentilissimo, dopo essersi inizialmente dimenticati di noi in attesa del check in (perchè stavano lavorando al pub) si sono scusati e ci hanno offerto due birre!

Beautiful unusual room, view lovely, nice bustling area. We would come again.

Cons:

Sadly the hotel had a short staffing problem so this did impact breakfast quality and server. However, they did notify of an issue on arrival.

Pros:

Nice room with a wonderful view, thoughtfully decorated. Great location.

Cons:

Breakfast offer could have been better, selection wasn’t great unless you wanted a cooked breakfast.

The Islay Frigste Hotel is top class!!
Pros:

Islay Frigate Hotel is beautiful inside. Stayed a few times now and it’s absolutely spotless on every visit. Decoration is of a high standard and well kept. Breakfast is lush, not greasy and tasted devine. Staff very friendly and helpful. The locals are just the best. Thank you for an amazing restful stay. Booked to come back already.
