Lovely hotel full of character and charm a hidden gem. The breakfast and bar meals were lovely and wonderful staff
Nothing
Beautiful building in extensive grounds
Thought it was overpriced compared to other hotels I have stayed at
The grounds were large and well tended
We were looking forward to dinner here after seeing the menu but were disappointed with the actual food and didn’t eat on other evenings we stayed here.
The setting is magnificent and the food was very good.
The spa is dated the floors are stained and grubby.
The hotel feels a little dated and in need of a spruce up in places. Some of the carpets / rugs and soft furnishings showed signs of wear and in need of a clean.
Beautiful house and well kept gardens. Great maze!
Some of the rooms / carpets in need of upgrading.
We felt that the food was expensive.
Lovely and well maintained grounds. Imposing. Polite and well presented staff. Large and well decorated bedrooms.
Mattress in room was worn with little support and very uncomfortable - not what you expect of a premium hotel.
Full English breakfast was one piece of bacon, one sausage and one egg - and not particularly tasty.
We ate off the standard menu one evening which was very bland and average - certainly not worth the price charged. We therefore ate out locally for the other evenings of our stay
Staff all good.
Restaurant - never went there - too old fashioned with candles and very dark and old fashioned looking.
The location and grounds were stunning. The interior was luxurious. The staff were very friendly and professional. The food was exceptional. The high quality produce, the presentation of the food and the taste was impressive. It was the best food we have had from a hotel in a very long time.
Only one thing that annoyed us, was guests using the disabled parking spaces and no blue badge displayed. I'm a blue badge holder and couldn't use the parking space. But the hotel provides a drop off point at the main entrance.
Location
Put in a bedroom with children next door who were screaming most of the night
Close to wedding venue
Nothing
Nice period property
Evening meal was a bit expensive
The staff were very welcoming. Especially Luke in reception and Grace on the bar/dining area.
The gardens were amazing and we loved the maze even though we got lost...which we found hilarious!!
The housekeeping staff were very helpful and polite.
The evening dining was very tasty.
And the presentation of the meal and quantity were both excellent.
The bed was very comfortable and the room facilities were adequate. The chocolates and anniversary message were a lovely touch and very much appreciated.
We found our room (no 14) unfortunately a bit on the grubby side and in need of an update. The carpet was patchy and had a a few stains on it. The curtains could also have done with a wash and the window frames needed a good clean/dust.
We found the spa dated and in need of an overhaul.
Staff and hotel were both great. Breakfast was good and facilities were excellent.
Ordered the feather blade of beef (which was £33) but no potatoes provided and instead a small terrine was with the beef and vegetables. Disappointed that no potatoes included which I gather you could have but had to pay extra for in addition to the £33 .
Beautiful hotel with fabulous staff .
Rooms too hot
