The grounds and friendly staff
Perhaps more econonic bar style meals off the a la carte menu.
Location, swimming pool and food and grounds.
No heating control in room. Very hot even with windows open - 2 cool days. Could do with bath robes and facecloths in bathroom. Hot tub out of action one day.
Property was lovely
Relaxing. Pleasant staff. Large rooms. Good location.
Bed not made properly.
Period country house hotel set in its own grounds
Perfectly lovely for our purpose.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The decor was well appointed and the bedroom spacious
The food was good - and the waiting staff and kitchens were very efficient
The location is ideal for both the Farne Islands and Alnwick
The room was perfect and the bed very comfortable, the view from the room window was beautiful, I couldn't fault it in any way, very clean as well.
Just make sure you make the hotel staff aware if you have mobility problems as the stairs can be a challenge
It’s in beautiful grounds
Nothing
Amazing rooms, facilities building and proper service and great breakfast
The only tiny negative was the blinds in the velux windows in the coach house let the sun in really early in the morning
The grounds were beautifully well maintained and most staff were very polite and accommodating.
- Matradee was very rude and passive aggressive to us and two other tables within the restaurant in the evening. (All other well lovely and accommodating).
- Rooms were well decorated, but not very clean. Both rooms had dirty walls and light switches and Room2 bathroom wasn’t clean.
-Room6, mirror was cracked, temp was above 26C with a fan/window open, matress filthy and old. Walls filthy.
-Room 2, had a hole in the window, filthy light switches (which I had to clean.) walls filthy.
Other rooms with the hotel very dusty/with cobwebs (library and front sitting area). In morning, the public corridors and rooms were very strongly scented with either cleaner or air fresheners. Was very over powered and off putting.
Overall- for the amount of money charged, I would expect at the very least for the rooms to be clean and a reasonable temperature. I didn’t sleep at all, and wouldn’t recommend staying here again.
Location and setting
Room with adjoining door
Room, grounds, breakfast
Dining room a bit too full of tables. Atmosphere a bit flat
Grand house with lots of period furniture including 4 poster bed. Very large rooms
Loved the pool and hotel rooms. Gorgeous.
Dinner was a bit of a faff having to book in advance etc.
Grounds were nice and breakfast was good
We stayed in the gardeners cottage, windows hadn’t been cleaned for quite some time. In general the whole appearance of the room was tired
We enjoyed the choice of the buffet at breakfast, there was so much to choose from which kept us going till dinner time. The staff were great so helpful and friendly.
The full English breakfast was disappointing, the bacon was quite tough and the sausages were too firm for us.
We had two evening meals in the bar lounge and for us there wasn’t enough choice.
A beautiful Georgian building with very pretty well kept grounds. Staff all very friendly and helpful in an old fashioned way.
We unfortunately had insufficient time to sample the Spa
A beautiful property, excellent location for exploring Northumberland. The staff were very friendly and helpful .
Nothing it was fabulous
