The property is ideally located for us to break our journey on the way home. Despite it being very close to the main road it was surprisingly quiet. Lovely breakfast.
The bedroom was very compact with the bathroom similarly sized.
This was a special occasion for myself and partner they went above and beyond to make it even more memorable great service
My wife and I were delighted with the quality and standard of the food at the Fir Tree. the food was plentiful, well presented and extremely good value for money.
The room was more than adequate for a weekend stay and had all the amenities one requires.
The staff were efficient and very pleasant..
Good, friendly welcome, and good food. A safe area to park the motorcycle (someone put a dent in the car last time I stayed - what damage could have happened to the bike?)
Some of the ot holes in the car park need some attention - a car would have little problem, but on two wheels.....
Location
Hearing the kitchen staff at 6 the rooms are opposite the kitchen
Lovely place with friendly helpful staff. We had a lovely breakfast and evening meal. Room clean and comfortable.
The fire alarm that went off at 3.30, nothing untowards but maybe alarm very sensitive, but really a good thing.
Your breakfast staff,Aly and George went above and beyond,as the breakfast menu has reduced, every year my husband always had kippers, but Aly true to her word went out in her own time and bought them and George cooked them on Saturday morning.very much appreciated.
It’s very hard to get hot food on a Sunday night.
Our second time staying, and we love coming here. A great way to break up our annual trip to Scotland from Devon. I was over the moon that they allowed 3 dogs this time, as opposed to just the two from our last visit. A lot of places have a dog limit. The room layout is fantastic as a dog owner, due to the motel style, you’re outside as soon as you open the door, which is ideal for doggy toilet breaks (nothing quite like the walk of shame through a hotel with pjs and bed hair to take the dogs out first thing). Next to the car park is a nice spacious field with a dog bin. The food is always delicious, one of my highlights. And I love the decor and location of the hotel as well. A nice peaceful area. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Also love the dog bowls with a biscuit and blanket in the room upon arrival.
Not far from where we needed to be
Very noisy, dogs barking from early morning
The room was very clean and simple with spotless bathroom and the full English breakfast was worth getting up for.
I wasn't expecting the "motel" style access straight from the car park but I actually think this is quite good.
The bathroom was a little compact but perfectly OK for one person.
The breakfast was good. The staff their are doing there best in difficult surroundings
Rooms smelled damp/musty. Like damp dog mixed with cat pee. The carpets were damp. We watched the cleaners spraying the carpets after cleaning one room. What with we don’t know but it’s either to cover up or it was causing the odour. One room was particularly bad. Staff agreed and moved that family member. Later management claimed it was a paint smell as the room had been refurbed. The toilet in the new room leaked. They say it didn’t. There was no hot water to basins. They said it was linked to electric and we must have had the showers on at the same time. We didn’t. They said we should have told them but it was 11 o clock at night. Awful experience and only compensation offered was money off another stay!
Friendly staff, great breakfast
Friendly welcome, clean room, lovely breakfast.
Nothing!
Lovely clean comfortable room with good selection of tea and coffee making facilities Full English breakfast was fantastic
Nothing although it would have been handy if kitchen was open a little later. Couldn’t get any food at 7:50pm when we returned after our day out
Very comfortable and friendly, lovely place to stay
