Alex on reception was amazing. After checkout We needed to get changed before our flight and he managed to sort a room for us. He Also sorted us a voucher for the chair lift which saved us a few pounds. Also the bar area shows sports so we were able to watch a premier league game we didn’t want to miss.
No air con
As always they are very good… good personnel, good location, good food. Best!
The location was good for us. We went hiking in all directions around taking either one one the marked tourist routes, or just walking on our own route. Mountains are beautiful! There are routes open to the sun or hidden, partially, in the forests. The temperature there, in mid August, was comfortable like +23...+25 maximum, while down on the seaside there was 5-10 degrees higher, hot indeed.
We had simple, but cozy room. The view from the windows / balcony was not the best (we'd have preferred mountain view as it had been promised), but on the other hand the balcony was in the shadow most part of the day, which was good for us. And generally to take lunch or dinner in our room was a pleasure. Good local wines, so we had a lot of degustations!)
It's mostly about the food / cleanliness. The food and kitchen were in general quite acceptable and good at times. We naturally didn't expect 'haure couture' cuisine. The breakfast was sufficient /good with hot and cold components, yogurts, fruit, coffee etc. So there was no issue with the 'continental' nature of breakfast, its potential insufficiency which sometimes can be very small. The issue was with cleanliness. Although there were a lot of hotel service people / personnel / waiters, they were typically busy with their phones and didn't pay attention that smth expected is missing, e.g. plates for cereals. However if you ask for it, they'd give it to you. With exception of one young lady who was indeed attentive 'for all the others', and we did appreciate it and are grateful for it.
I understand that insects like flies are natural in summer in the countriside, however I'd like the hotel people to check for them from time to time and remove them, 'fight' with them. Especially dead ones lying a long time on the surfaces, floor etc. We were shocked to see a dead fly in the soup that was brought by a waiter to our room. Of course, they need to check the food more attentively, not just to bring it. We didn't have any compensation except for we didn't pay for this rotten dish. Another issue we encountered was about a French sparkling wine which turned to be a quiet wine with no bubbles, with the price a few times higher than a typical white or red non-spalrkling wines. However after numerous discussions we came to a financisl comprimise about this issue. We would like sometimes to take the food on the terrace, in the open air, but since we don't smoke, we couldn't - each time smb was smoking, although 'smoking is not allowed' on the hotel territory.
