The location was right in a busy square, bare bones but comfortable room. Nice staff and breakfast, the restaurant was also very reasonable. WiFi not reliable but worked fine outside.

The hotel is located right in the city center, with a beautiful view of the main square. The room was clean and had everything we needed, including a TV and air conditioning. The breakfast was also delicious.
The only downside is that there are a lot of people around the hotel because it is also a restaurant. It was sometimes difficult to get to the entrance due to the large number of people dining outside. However, the staff was very helpful and assisted us with our luggage.
There is an elevator, which is a big plus.
If you are looking for a quieter place, it might be better to consider a hotel on the outskirts of the city. But if you want to stay right in the heart of the city and enjoy the atmosphere, this hotel is a great choice.

Horrible service. DO NOT STAY THERE.
The owner is not helpful and doesn't care about his customers. DO NOT STAY THERE. We were happy to move to another hotel despite paying for 2 nights for this.
The location was great, right in the center of Varrenna. Many restaurant options nearby and very close to the water. The food at the hotel restaurant for dinner was excellent, some of the best pizza we’ve had. The chocolate lava cake was heavenly. The waiters were really nice. There was a laundry service called Pensa Barbara about 1/2 block away. They charged only like 6-7 euros per kilo of clothes and took < 24 hours and folded all our clothes (rather than most places that charge a few euros for each individual item). There was a pharmacy a few meters away too. Everyone other than one front desk manager treated us exceptionally well.
The hotel is more like a restaurant that happens to have a few rooms above it. So at first when we arrived we thought we were in the wrong place. Then we realized that the hotel entrance is blocked by outdoor dining tables so we had to weave our way around the tables with our luggage to get there. So it wasn’t very welcoming. Since the primary focus of the employees seemed to be the restaurant, the waiters doubled as the receptionists at the front desk, and as cashiers. As you might imagine this leaves little time to attend to hotel guests issues as they were super busy. The bed in our room (for me and my wife) was the size of a short full bed in the US, in other words with my 6 foot frame my feet comically extended past the edge of the bed. Interestingly the bed in our kids’ room was bigger. When I tried to point this out to our harried front desk attendant/waiter/cashier he didn’t try to apologize instead he rudely said I should’ve seen the measurements on the internet before booking. A simple “I’m sorry” would have gone a long way. My guess is that he was perhaps overworked and focused on the restaurant. The hotel doesn’t really have a lobby. The rooms advertised air conditioning (which they had) but it only lowered the temperature from unbearable to tolerable. The nearby church bells sounded loudly at 7 am every morning exactly 24 times (not 7 times) so an alarm clock is unnecessary. The breakfast was sparse, a few croissants, a small assortment of fruit, some hard boiled eggs, not what we had been accustomed to at other European hotels.

We had a fantastic stay. The lake was only minutes away. The staff were all friendly and helpful. On site food was delicious. It was the only place we stayed that enabled us to relax by watching TV after a busy day. Other hotels stated satellite tv but it was all still Italian which meant we couldn't understand.

The room was comfortable and clean. Although located in the centre of town, it was not noisy at all. Very friendly staff!

Great location and near to everything you need in Varenna. Clean, everything we needed. Great air con (which was needed when we there are it was 36 degrees Celsius!). Breakfast was simple but all we needed.
