So good we're returning
Pros:

A lovely setting for a hotel, staff were wonderful, room was comfortable and the food was excellent, our stay was so pleasurable that I am reviewing a group booking next year as part of our annual car tour in Scotland and the borders.

A little gem, off the beaten track but 20 mins to Glasgow, 40 mins to Edinburgh from Croy station.
Pros:

Location was superb. Room was clean and very comfortable. Food was lovely and the general ambience of the place was very nice. Lots of people out walking, horse riding, boating. The terraced seating was lovely to sit in the sun and have a nice cold beer.

Pros:

The best thing about our stay, hands down, were the staff. Everyone was an absolute joy to interact with. We felt really welcomed.

The breakfast was great value and tasted amazing, too.

Cons:

We booked a twin and one of the mattresses could do with being changed.

Good but not as peaceful as we thought
Pros:

Nice scenery and food lovely staff.

Cons:

We could hear another customer upstairs walking around and it was extremely loud which caused us disturbance at nearly midnight and the exterior door was very loud when closing which caused lack of sleep. There wasn't a hairdryer in the room just the end of the hairdryer.

Terribly dated, unsafe and not worth the money.
Pros:

Friendly reception staff.

Appears to be very dog friendly.

Cons:

Room was in a terrible state, cracked and loose tiles all over bathroom floor. So bad it was unsafe to walk barefoot, and get out the shower without worrying about cutting your feet. The tiles were lifting up, and was cracked across 4 or 5 of the tiles around the toilet and sink. Mould all over bathroom and dated. Toilet brush with no handle? Stained yellow toilet.

It’s a separate building to the pub with code access and key to room. The pub was shut and closed by 10pm so if you forgot the code to the hotel or had a problem there is no way of getting in. No emergency phone number in the room either. Very bad.

I was a solo female traveller and I wouldn’t stay here again simply for the lack of security.

I paid £100+ for a substandard room, a bed with a huge dip in the mattress and an unsafe bathroom. Never again 🤢

Foid was not bad and staff were friendly.
Pros:

To be fair we didnt stay due to the appalling twin beds that we didnt stay long enough to sleep on!!

After having paid the full amount upon arrival to then be shown to our room to then briefly sit upon the beds after a 3hour journey we then realised that "Sleeping" here!

Getting our money back did not come easy as initially we were met with resistance!

Perhaps the bedrooms within the main building were better but that wasnt an option for us.

The staff themselves were really nice as before we left we decided to have a bite to eat before we headed for a premier inn!!

So if you are offerred a room within the Annexe the be advised to check out the rooms before you pay for it!

Cons:

As i said the beds were the main bug bear but im afraid to say that the Annexed building didnt feel welcoming at all.

Great canalside location, lovely breakfast, doors could do with some soft closers!
Pros:

Super handy for our walk along the Forth and Clyde canal. Staff were really friendly and the breakfast was amazing - really good value for money

Cons:

Just be aware that it is really loud and you hear everyone coming and going. The doors all slam so make sure you pack earplugs! The accommodation is just starting to look a bit dated, but it was clean and the staff were lovely
