The age, location. Visited on recommendation and it certainly lived up to it. Full of character. Staff very accommodating. Atmosphere made to be welcoming and all requests were met.

Lovely ambiance with a particularly pleasant outdoor area. The staff were all polite and helpful. The dining room was well organised and atmospheric and the food and wine list were excellent. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious. We were impressed by how well dogs are welcomed. The cost was not trivial, and was at the high end for this type of hotel. But overall, a delightful stay.
Our breakfast table was very close to the kitchen and meant that it was difficult to escape the conversation in the kitchen.
Plenty of staff around at all times and without exception they were incredibly professional, polite and helpful. Exceptional.
There was a bit of a funny smell in the garden room - like dog pee. We didn't see any dogs. Accidents happen!
