In a beautiful location, very friendly and personal rather than corporate
Nothing to dislike
We were familiar with this hotel as we used to have a static on Skelwith Fold. Had a drink in the Talbot Bar many times. Love the location with access to many local places. Free car parking and on a bus route if needed. Nice staff at check in and in the dining room. Fabulous breakfast. Big comfy bed. Bath sheets not towels a nice touch.
Minor negative was no info in the room eg WiFi code, local places of interest, example menus.
Also the hotel bar shuts before 10pm so no nightcap for us 🙁
Breakfast and dinner
I'm afraid I didn't realise you had to get TWO buses to the hotel. I probably wouldn't have booked the hotel otherwise. So the first bus driver told us we would have to get another bus from Ambleside to the hotel. We got a taxi instead and the next day too. Not convenient for the Coast to Coast.
Really tasty
Friendly staff. Very good breakfast and good dinner.
Not all lights working in bedroom at time of visit. Noisy plumbing.
The staff were exceptional- the help & friendliness was second to none & what makes the hotel amazing.
Spotlessly clean
Breakfast was amazing
Great evening menu
A little dated but would never stop us coming back
Staff were amazing. Room was very comfortable with comfy beds. Lots of coffee, tea and hot chocolate provided. The breakfast was nice with a good selection.
The shower pressure was very poor and it took some fine tuning to not be freezing cold or scolding.
The staff were so friendly and helpful, the place was cosy with a lovely atmosphere, the food was fab , we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back
