Pros:

The food was excellent, lovely period building, bar and dining areas really good. We stayed in a room in the old part of the hotel.

Cons:

The room was a little auster, lovely big chairs but curtains behind not very good quality.
The bathroom was disappointing, obviously we were in the older part of the hotel but the toilet and bath were too close together, hopeless for a larger person. The toilet seat did not fit the size of the toilet, it was too small meaning you had no option but to sit on the rim of the toilet. I'm sure this can be solved relatively easily. The room was well equipped but lacked the feel of luxury the rest of the hotel seemed to portray.

Pros:

The position of the hotel makes it easy to reach town and prthcressa beaches, and only a short walk to catch the boats to any of the outlying islands. The rooms are great with very comfortable beds. The food is excellent.

Cons:

There was nothing I didn't like.

3 Days in St Mary's
Pros:

Great location close to town and the port. Bar and restaurant staff were lovely.

Cons:

Being charged for a map after paying £100's to stay, a little touch that I heard many other guests commenting on. Also booked an early breakfast because we had an early morning excursion but no one told the restaurant staff so we had to rush breakfast and leave. The restaurant staff were lovely but they didn't know about the arrangements. Not a huge place so disappointing requests were not forwarded on by the Reception.

Our 2-night stay was too short. The Hall was the perfect base.
Pros:

The staff at The Hall are very friendly and super helpful. Peter and David checked us in on arrival and set the tone for our 2-night stay. Breakfasts are very good, second only to dinner. We only dined 'in' once but thoroughly enjoyed it. The bar staff too were excellent! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel for a short or longer break on St Marys. It is great base for which to explore the other islands... we managed trips to Tresco and Bryher, both fantastic. We will return!

Cons:

Nothing! Very nice hotel.

Far too pricey, not worth the money.
Pros:

Good location and helpful friendly staff.

Cons:

Room 9 had a very noisy kitchen extractor fan outside the window which was on from 7am until 10.30/11pm making it impossible to relax in the room. Very overpriced for a bed and breakfast booking, not worth the money but had to book last minute due to health issues.

First class staff, which made our stay memorable
Pros:

Everything! From the minute we walked into the hotel we were greeted by David, who also phoned us as he was aware of our flight from Exeter being cancelled. He went out of his way to ask if we were ok and did we need anything on our arrival. The Hall looked beautiful when we arrived, gardens were immaculate. Our room was lovely and clean, well stocked up with toiletries and hot drinks. The breakfast was amazing, good produce from Gloucester. We stayed one evening for a meal. The chef cooked our steak perfectly. Staff were all very hard working and attentive. They are a real credit to the hotel. We have to name some of them, Brad, Marcus, Lauren, Georgia & Grace. They were full of reccomendations to get us out exploring the island. This is our first visit to the island and won't be our last. We hope to see the above friendly faces next year when we return with my parents. Thankyou all for such a wonderful visit.

Cons:

If I have to say something that I wasn't happy with it would be there was no hair conditioner in the bathrooms
