Beautiful Ninh Binh in a peaceful setting
Pros:

It is a wonderful peaceful place to spend sometime. The setting is beautiful and the location worked very well for us. The rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and relaxing. Free bikes so you can explore the beautiful surrounding area. The staff were very friendly. We had a couple of issues and they sorted them very quickly. Would definitely recommend The Wooden Gate.

Cons:

The restaurant set up was not as we expected. Staff weren't always there to serve you. Limited menu. However, there are lots of local restaurants nearby to walk or cycle to.

The perfect peaceful oasis!
Pros:

I absolutely LOVED staying here!! The property is just beautiful, it’s quiet and green, it felt like we were in a private oasis. The pool was the perfect place for cooling off every afternoon.

Cons:

The only issue was not having internet access in our room (2 bedroom villa, our room was upstairs) or tv, but it was sort of like being forced off-grid for a bit, which is never a bad thing.

Pros:

Personnel sympathique, très bon petit déjeuner même si les quantités étaient limitées (1 plat et 1 boisson par personne ce qui signifie que l'on ne peut pas manger des oeufs + des pancakes par exemple)

Cons:

La chambre était vraiment très sombre alors que les photos montrent une chambre lumineuse.
Durant notre séjour, il y avait des coupures de wifi et d'électricité (donc pas de clim ni de ventilateurs..).
Il était difficile d'aérer la chambre

Peaceful jungle escape!
Pros:

Peaceful surroundings. The jungle vibe was very relaxing, lovely pool and nicely decorated rooms with linen bedding and comfortable beds. Good spacious rooms and bathrooms. Free bikes to use- in good condition too! Free breakfast was very nice, good selection. Friendly and helpful staff.

Cons:

The room was not as advertised and when reading other reviews, the staff knows this too, despite of trying to pretend they didn’t understand what I was talking about. The rooms are tiny and there’s no private kitchenette (there is a shared one).

Also the WiFi was a disaster.

Service, or the complete lack of it, was the worst.

I didn’t stay here as the room was tiny and definitely not as described. The staff knows this but didn’t give a refund. I rather lost my money and stayed elsewhere than stayed here.

Peaceful tropical oasis at The Wooden Gate.
Pros:

Loved the fact it was tucked away from the hustle and bustle - it was like being in your own little tropical oasis. After a hotel stay it was good to have more living space and really helpful having access to a washing machine. Pool was fantastic for cooling down after sightseeing. Lan was a great host with lots of local knowledge and good suggestions about where to go and when. We can highly recommend the mango smoothies!

Cons:

Breakfast options were a bit limited but that’s only to be expected with a smaller venue and we’d been very spoilt for choice in Hanoi.

Pros:

Sehr nettes und hilfsbereites Personal. Schöne Anlage, gut gepflegter Pool, extrem schönes Bad und sehr bequeme Betten. Kostenlose Wäschemöglichkeiten. Kurze Wege zu allen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Früher Check-in und später Checkout.

Cons:

Wie leider so häufig sind die Kleinigkeiten, die optimierbar sind: das Frühstück ist überschaubar und wenig einfallsreich. Die Klimaanlagen sind sehr schwach und es wird nachts sehr warm. Die Waschmaschine riecht leider und dementsprechend auch die Wäsche. Am (schönen) Pool gibt es eine riesige unbequeme Sitzbank, aber keine Liegen (nur einzelne, kaputte Beachbarliegen). Hier fehlt die Liebe zum Detail.

Schöne Anlage; geeignet für Radtouren ins Umland.
Pros:

Die Lage außerhalb von Ninh Binh war mit Grab gut zu erreichen; vor Ort gab es im Hotel kostenlose Fahrräder (unsere allerdings ohne Licht und Schloß), um die flache Umgebung zu erkunden. Der Gärtner hat vorher noch Luft aufgepumpt :-) Auch nach dem Auschecken durften wir die Räder bis zur abendlichen Abreise nutzen, ebenso Pool und Dusche. Das Gepäck wurde aufbewahrt. Zimmer C1 mit Terrasse zum begrünten, tropisch anmutenden Innenhof war gemütlich eingerichtet: großzügig mit schönem Bad (große Wanne), breitem Bett, hübschen Bodenfliesen und vielen Ablagemöglichkeiten. Schöner Pool, Badetücher und Liegestühle werden bereitgestellt. Das Personal war insgesamt sehr freundlich.

Cons:

Beim Check-In gab es Unstimmigkeiten mit dem gebuchten Zimmer, das als "Deluxe-Doppelzimmer mit Balkon" angeboten wurde. Wir bekamen aber die "Familiensuite" im EG mit zusätzlichem Stockbett und Terrasse. Zwar letztlich in Ordnung, aber die obere Etage wäre angenehmer und das Zimmer etwas hübscher gewesen. Nachdem die Managerin angerufen wurde, bot sie an, für die Folgenacht in das gebuchte Zimmer umzuziehen, was wir aber der Umstände wegen ablehnten. Sie sagte, bei ihnen wären alle Kategorien gleich - auf booking.com wird aber offenbar unterschieden. Das Frühstück war nicht ganz so nach unserem Geschmack, eines der schlechtesten in Vietnam (vielleicht nur unsere falsche Wahl). Im Zimmer gab es leider keine Tee-/Kaffeeration, um den Wasserkocher zu nutzen, Tassen fehlten ebenso (bekamen wir dann an der Rezeption). Nach der ersten Nacht wurden die Handtücher gewechselt, das Bett aber nicht gemacht. Andersrum wäre es sinnvoller gewesen. Sonst nichts zu bemängeln!

Pros:

Very calm and serene place. It is walkable to Trang An main road with good restaurants and bars while being in a very calm back road. Unfortunately we had to end our stay earlier as we had a change of plans but we were extremely well treated at The Wooden Gate! If you want to stay away from Tam Coc's busy streets this is a great choice!

Очень красивый, уютный отель. В номере есть всё необходимое. Вкусные завтраки. Можно бесплатно постирать/ посушить вещи.
