The location of the lodge is unique, so close to Mt Taranaki, surrounded by forest area.
The food was excellent.
Sadly, this accommodation didn't meet our expectations. I hope this feedback will be helpful for management to improve service where it's possible.
I was not able to book a restaurant online, no slots, had to phone the reception. The reception staff was not able to find my booking, it took some time. That's ok, it can happen but the next morning I've got a call from them, they were not aware of a conversation and a booking a day before, again they had difficulties to find my name. Guys, you have around 10 rooms only with maximum 10 clients names for bookings, it's not a Hilton Hotel, would appreciate a quicker service.
The main disappointment - we were given wrong rooms. One twin room and one double room were booked but we were given two doubles instead. It was not nice to return back to reception and wait for staff to prepare new rooms. I'm glad you were able to accommodate us as required but it would be nice to check booking confirmation on Booking.com before preparing rooms to avoid such mistakes.
The restaurant with fireplace is nice, it was almost empty though. We asked which table we should sit and the manager offered us the worst table near the kitchen door which was opened and closed by kitchen people frequently and it was quite distracting. I asked later if we could change the table and sit closer to the fireplace and they said yes - other tables were not reserved. It's so awkward - why we could not be offered a good table initially. Four people dining, higher check - probably customer service needs more attention there.
We were shocked when a young girl at the restaurant brought a cup that we asked for, holding it inside, touching it with fingers. It's not appropriate! Please teach, educate your workers. There is no excuse for such a service.
The rooms are not big but fine overall. We all were not comfortable with pillows though.
Lovely, helpful staff. Great views. High-quality restaurant was just a few steps from our room. Great location for a relaxing walk with a wonderful view.
A bit of a drive to go shopping. Best to stay onsite and enjoy the restaurant.

In a great location, near a lot of activities and easy to find. The staff were so good! Attentive, funny, excellent recommendations and seemed to really care we had everything we needed.
Breakfast was a bit expensive but tasted good.
