Karoo hotel for a relaxed road trip stopover
Pros:

An authentic Karoo hotel - the rooms face a broad stoep, with shutters and sash windows. Victorian era, but not as ostentatious as the Lord Milner in Matjiesfontein - it is more homely. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the dinner excellent (not fine dining, but hearty and generous). Love the way it is furnished in keeping with the building's history. The stoep (veranda) has a view of a beautiful mountain range and the windmill across the road adds to the rural Karoo vibe. The town is really small - an agricultural settlement, really. Lovely Karoo architecture. We'll be sure to stay over again.

Good stop on our way to Addo
Pros:

Nice stop on our way from Oudtshoorn to Addo. Staff was friendly, room spacious and the food tasted good!

An interesting Karoo escape
Pros:

Loved the traditional Karoo atmosphere and design of the establishment.
Staff were absolutely superb!
Breakfast and coffee were unsurpassed and delicious.
We received scrumptious homemade rusks in our room to enjoy with our morning coffee on the stoep, looking across the Karoo landscape at the Swartberg Mountains.

Cons:

Our room, albeit beautiful, was riddled with mosquitoes. The hotel did provide repellent, but was unfortunately empty.
The shower head was not secured, and fell off when showring.
There were a number of power outages throughout the night. Being a warm summer evening, the room was a bit uncomfortable for the periods when the airconditioning was off due to the outages.
