Very friendly and helpful staff.
Mattress was too soft. Crick neck as a result.
The bathroom facilities were somewhat updated and farely clean. The bed was also the same not much complaint about the things in the room.
The room we were placed in had a large crack from the roof that smelt dank, damp and the whole room smelled like black mould. I would expect something like this to have been decommisioned as it is a health hazard. I woke up with a sore throat and puffy eyes. My partner was the same. The smoke detectors batteries were taken out and it was open clearly showing that it was non functional. Because of that we chose not to use the wall heater for safety reasons. Standards are usually where they should be for a quick cheap stop over place, however we paid 120 for the night to be exposed to mould spores and be without heat.
I had made a booking for a date I was intending to be in Queenstown but on checking my paperwork the night before I was due to depart Victoria realised that I had booked a day earlier on the Ferry. I contacted the Railway Hotel and explained my predicament to Bec who was only too accomodating and switched my booking to the day before putting me in a room with a double bed as that was all that they had left that night. I offered to pay the difference but Bec assured me it wasn't necessary, exceptional service. I had a meal in the Bistro that night there was plenty on the plate and it tasted great. Even the wait staff were friendly.
If it ain't broke don't fix it, everything was better than perfect, keep up the great work!!

Clean, comfortable and close to town centre.
All was good.
We arrived later than our committed time due to unexpected road conditions (I believe we arrived after the stated reception time) but a courteous gentleman promptly checked us in and showed us in. We were very appreciative of that.
Amenities were better than expected, like in-room kettle, breakfast biscuits, hair conditioner etc. The heater worked great as the night we stayed there dropped below 0 outside. The microwave in the covered smoking area was weird but it worked so I am not complaining. The location was convenient as there's a restaurant and convenience store (liquor store too) onsite. Parking seemed plenty within the courtyard, we didn't have to park on the street.
The room was tight. We barely had space to open one of our suitecases at a time. It was sufficient for a quick stay in town. The path to the shared toilet was covered, but basically outside; luckily our room was situated right next to it but otherwise the trip to the toilet would have been pretty cold every time.
