Staff attitude was outstanding
Lukewarm shower
The lamb shank in the restaurant was absolutely amazing!!
Lovely hotel in a lovely location
There were no lifts, and being on the second floor, it was a real challenge getting my luggage up and down the steep, tight stairs.
Good location to visit the Cairngorms National Park
Quite expensive for the quality.
The restaurant is charging too much for average food. We had far better food for much cheaper in Scotland.
Der schottische Charme des Gebäudes und das wundervoll grosse Zimmer.
Für ältere Gäste wäre die hohe Badewanne problematisch zum einsteigen. Auch die steilen Treppen könnten für viele ein Problem sein.
It was very nice and cozy with a building of character
Too many stairs
It had an excellent location, close to the Boat of Garten station of the Strathspey Railway. We were in a garden room, with beautiful views towards the Cairngorms
On the second night of our stay, we had an extremely average meal, for which we were charged what we both thought were quite high prices. We had booked bed and breakfast, but didn’t have the cooked breakfast, but had granola, fruit and yoghurt, whilst I had porridge, which was fine.
Our room was a good size, but the carpet looked as though it had not been hoovered for some time, whilst the shower was a rather feeble trickle of water, which took a long time to heat up. The bathroom was also overheated, as the heater was impossible to turn down, so the hotel was spending a lot of money on heating that was not needed.
The room was unfortunately made up as a double, but it was quickly changed to a twin for us.
The furnishings and decor of the hotel were comfortable and stylish.
Staff were slow to respond at breakfast. A proper urn to make tea with is required. Pumping hot water from a jug is not acceptable.
Traditional hotel, comfortable, nicely decorated room and decent food. Helpful staff took our suitcase up to our room which was much appreciated. Well located and helpful information provided about walks and what to see in the local area.
Not the best view over the kitchen and bins from our room (!) but only a 2 night stop so didn’t matter. No lift could be an issue for anyone with mobility problems.
Called in for Sunday Lunch. The food and service was OK up to the point I noticed the gravy on my food was missing. When the waiter came round asking if everything was OK I asked for some gravy. He went in the back and when he came back without the gravy, he said it would be at an extra charge. When it came to paying, cash payment was refused. And so was the added service charge!
Food was good
Room allocated to us for four nights was dark, small and faced the rubbish bins and the noisy fan system from the bio digester / kitchens. After a lot of pressure, we were moved but the room (in the rafters) was so hot we had to open the window. First night drunken partying opposite until 1am; last night car alarm going off outside from 4.15am. If you like a peaceful night's sleep, this hotel may not be for you....
Location close to golf club
Staff at dinner very attentive and welcoming Food for dinner good but expensive we decided to eat at another restaurant for second evening
Garden room at terrace to sit out
No hot water so no showers First day they sent someone to fix but second morning still cold water unacceptable
Breakfast uninspiring limited fruit and bread types Staff disinterested and one girl on her phone
We have stayed in several hotels in Scotland over this past month and this is the most expensive the most disappointing and definitely not good value
Let's just say this is not great. Or good. The most interesting thing was our shower which had an extremely slow drain coupled with a very short lip around the base, meaning that it became like a gameshow to see if you could shower quickly enough not to flood the bathroom floor.
enthusiastic staff, average pub grub, truly awful overpriced room 106. see pic to see how little maintenance is done. It must be osprey droppings on the window!
The hotel itself is lovely, with lots of character and its location is great. There is free parking close by too.
There is a trainline literally on the doorstep. There is a shop just across the road that sells a wide range of goods - food, drinks, magazine, books and touristy paraphernalia. There is also a gallery near the shop selling beautiful crafts, paintings and cards. We also found some lovely walks nearby.
The staff were pleasant and helpful. They upgraded our room for £20 so that we could have a room with a bath. The room itself was super with a lounge area that had a great view and separate bedroom. The bathroom had a roll top bath with a separate shower.....room 101 is lovely
The food in the bar/restaurant was plentiful, really tasty as was breakfast.
On the whole we enjoyed our stay.
There was a breakdown in communication regarding where we had our evening meal. We were seated in a bar area and after eating our meal discovered that there was another room that had a more intimate ambience which is where we would have preferred to eat. We hadn't been given a choice. Despite that, up until then we would have booked to return when in the area again.
We usually strip our bed on departure to assist housekeeping. On stripping our bed, we were absolutely appalled at the state of the mattress protector!!! It was covered in multiple stains and had obviously not been changed for some time. The pillows did not have protectors on which in the day and age I feel should be compulsory. I usually check the bed (I am a bit OCD) on arrival but given that the whole room looked on point I didn't feel that I needed to....I'm wishing that I did now!!! I have decided not to share pictures here but I do have them time and location stamped in my phone if the management need evidence to support my review.
