We arrived on a beautiful sunny day, and the garden terrace looked so inviting , it was clearly popular with the locals too. From the moment we arrived, everyone gave us such a warm and friendly welcome. The staff kindly managed to reserve us a table for dinner that evening, which we really appreciated.
Our room was the perfect size for our family. I wasn’t expecting separate rooms, so I was delighted to discover the layout was set up that way. Both rooms were spacious enough to comfortably fit our toddler’s inflatable bed, and we never felt crowded or on top of each other.
Each room had a TV. Netflix didn’t work, but we were able to log into our Amazon Prime account instead. The fans in both rooms were very much appreciated, especially during the warm weather, and the blackout blinds were a lovely touch with children. There were plenty of towels for everyone, and I loved the funky pop of green in the décor.
The tea and coffee selection was excellent, with plenty of variety and biscuits for everyone which definitely pleased the kids! I especially loved the tall ceilings, large windows, and beautiful Victorian style radiators. The bathroom also had a fantastic feature with a soft blue LED light that automatically came on during the night, which was perfect for little ones. There was plenty of storage space too, including shelves and hangers.
I honestly slept well for the first time in a long time. The whole place had such a lovely, calming energy.
The dining hall was peaceful, the staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was exceptional with something to suit all tastes. We also enjoyed a short walk to a nearby park, which was quiet and pleasant with lovely views.
We would definitely stay here again.

Food was okay but pricey; we had breakfast and dinner in the garden. However, the room was sweltering: windows open about two inches, hallways on second floor were very hot even at 2100hrs, the fan had to be repositioned onto a chair near the window and kept on all night - noisy. Even a cold shower did little to relieve the heaviness of rhe air in the room. Hardly slept and was exhausted the next day. If you have no way of cooling the rooms I would suggest not putting guests on the second floor in hot weather. The building is beautiful, the breakfast croissants excellent but the comfort of the room in the heat was awful.
The location was excellent, the room design was beautiful, and the cleaning staff were absolutely wonderful and very helpful throughout our stay.
Unfortunately, the room was facing the ventilation system, so there was a constant noise at all times. The Wi-Fi was also unreliable and kept disconnecting. In addition, the TV settings were very confusing and the television did not work properly.

I had to chase my main coarse on the Wednesday night.
But the pub was busy both inside & outside.
I didn’t eat at the hotel last time I stayed so can not compare if Wednesday night was a blip. I do hope it was.

Stayed at this great hotel: as part of Hall & Woodhouse got my partners birthday, rooms are well decorated, great breakfast offer with personable staff. Great bar & food, plentiful places to sit in or out. The Crown fest was on with some great local artists. In the centre of the village, half hour drive from the beach, and a 10 minute walk from the Hall & Woodhouse brewery. We will be back to this lovely hotel

Ok...Yes the building is old Grade 2 Georgian Building. However due to the old wooden floor boards you can hear people walking about in the room above and getting in and out of bed, to a point that it can as it did with us keep us awake. Fortunately it wasn't a romantic weekend away for the people in the room above as every roll over and bed moved could be heard as if we were in the same room!.... Spoilt the overhaul experience I'm afraid
