The hotel is close to many attractions (caves, mountain hikes). The room was very nice and the bed was big and comfortable. And the food is great. We ended up having dinner there three times so we tried many of their dishes and they were all excellent. And the personnel was very friendly and helpful. We loved this place.
Everything
Nothing
Location is great and the restaurant and bar areas are very nice. Terrcace is a good size as is the grassed area.
Restaurant service was hit and miss. Evening meal was very slow yet breakfast was better. The first room we were given was very tired. Paint peeling off of the window surrounds, skirtings and bathroom door. Sofa had seen better days and had dirty marks.
Beautiful hotel in an amazing location, staff were friendly, food very good. Our room exceeded our expectations

We had a really lovely stay at The Maynard. The staff were attentive, welcoming, and genuinely friendly throughout our visit which made the whole experience feel very comfortable and relaxed.
The hotel itself was beautiful. From the outside it has that countryside charm, but inside everything felt modern, stylish, and very well looked after. One thing that really stood out to me was the White Company amenities which added a really nice touch.
The gardens outside looked beautiful and peaceful, although it was a bit too cold during our stay to properly enjoy them. There was plenty of parking available which made things easy. The location was perfect for us as well. It is surrounded by nature and countryside in every direction, with great walking routes nearby, but still close enough to shops and the city when needed.
We chose this hotel because it was well connected to other towns and cities around the Peak District, and it worked perfectly as a base for exploring the area.
Breakfast was included in our package and was excellent. The food was filling, fresh, and very well done.
Would definitely stay here again.
Very little to complain about overall. If I had to mention one thing, some areas of the hotel could have been a little warmer during the colder weather, but it did not take away from an otherwise great stay.
Lovely location. Being able to park. Staff were great, friendly but professional. Lovely out door space. Food was excellent
The weather has been very warm and unfortunately we were unable to get the bedroom temperature down. Nespresso coffee machine didn’t work properly in our room.
Great location for walks, very friendly staff, lovely food
Room was a bit hot
Location, ambience, staff

Das perfekte Hotel für unseren Zwischenstopp im Nationalpark. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet lecker.
Very well equipped boutique hotel with rooms named as per Australian cricket players.
Welcoming staff. Very clean room with excellent facilities. Restaurant served very tasty food and drink. Would definitely return. Great location, comfortable bed and very quiet at night.
Fantastic setting with extremely friendly staff. The food was excellent. The hotel had a lovely atmosphere.
The lighting in the bedroom was very low and it was impossible to read in bed.
The room would’ve benefited with an extra comfortable chair.
The hotel is full of warm character and there are nice touches in the rooms, including lovely toiletries, gourmet teas and a coffee maker.
The bed was firm and the pillows weren’t very comfortable.
Excellent food on Sunday lunch in restaurant staff were good too. Sunday night in bar food also good. Breakfast Monday very nice especially good quality sausages.
View from Fullerton Suite amazing. Nice touch chocolates for anniversary.
Sunday afternoon band playing in garden lovely touch.
We stayed many times before but notice now taken over lots more hotels Maynard being the first is looking tired especially stairs carpet and walls and our suite ready for redecoration
Also lacking in amenities - no shower caps in room or available at reception. No tissues - simple things you’d expect in 4* AA rated hotel.
Staff on Sunday evening seemed very sparse too. We saw lots of guests wondering looking for help - 4 staff members were in garden drinking probably after shift but didn’t give good impression to those visiting and wanting to sit in garden as the only throws were taken up by staff sat outside drinking.
Breakfast food quality great but limited to one choice ? Never before told can only have cooked breakfast no cereals or pastries unless pay extra? Just toast served as included would be expected if want to keep 4*
Great location on the edge of the Peaks. Plenty of parking, guests don't pay. The standout feature was the friendly staff, who were helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and the local area. Both the evening meal and breakfast were very good. Some of the decorations looked tired, but with a mood board in reception, they are in the process of updating them.
