Gurko Hotel

Lovely stay. Excellent location on historic cobblestone Gurko Street walking distance to everything. Definitely recommend and would stay here again.

Room 15 - king size bed, 2 nightstands, large wardrobe, mini frig, TV, small table with 2 chairs. Balcony had 2 chairs and small table also. Bathroom: there’s one room with a toilet and sink in it. The other room had the shower and another sink in it. AC worked great. Water pressure was good, plenty of hot water. The balcony overlooking the river and the hillside. I could not get over the view it’s something truly special.

I was surprised they had an elevator inside this hotel. Really great for those who have trouble with stairs.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant.
Huge amount of food for breakfast. eggs, fruit, bacon, cheeses, yogurt, croissants, bread, juice, coffee. It’s not a buffet either they bring you all these.

Restaurant next door that’s part of the hotel is excellent too. In the evening the outdoor seating is especially nice as the sun goes down. I ate dinner here twice kebabs were good but the pork ribs were life changing sooo good.

Parking: let them know ahead of time if you need to park. They have several spots in their garage and a few on the street.

Very charming, centrally located and affordable hotel. The front desk clerk was also the waiter and the porter. Unfortunately, our room was on the 5th floor of a walk up with a winding staircase and no elevator. The bathtub was high and difficult to get into and there was no shower curtain. The room was small and there was no full-length mirror. These obstacles made me never want to return, sadly. The view, however, was beautiful. The breakfast was enormous and would have been better as a buffet. I am waste/waist conscious and the amount of food left over was disturbing and nothing I could take with me for the day.

This is a wonderfully atmospheric hotel in the heart of the old town of Veliko Tarnovo. It has a cosy fire in the restaurant / breakfast room below (in March), spacious rooms and great views across the old town, down into the river valley and across to the Asen Monument. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was generous. Thoroughly recommended.

Do not expect a Hilton or a Marriott. No shower curtain, hand held shower spray only. New bathroom fixtures. No soup on dinner menu. Unsanitary electric tea kettle and coffee maker. Comfortable bed, HVAC works. Prepare to be served a massive breakfast one person could never consume. Owner does not take no for an answer. Delicious food. Tap water not recommended in Veliko Tarnovo.

The room we stayed in had a balcony with a stunning city view. The room was fully equipped, spacious, and very clean. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, especially with arranging taxis. The breakfast was delicious.
