The large well equipped bedroom with a massive comfortable bed?

The pools, gardens and little private spaces?
The other guests?
It is all of it!
Whenever I come to Madeira, this is where I want to be.

Just spent over a week here with family and very impressed. Although our first time here, it won’t be our last. Very large family rooms with spectacular views of Funchal bay. Breakfast top class. Pool area very comfortable with loads of sunbeds. Staff exceptionally friendly and always willing to help.

The Cliff Bay is a genuine 5 star hotel, offering a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful and it was clear that the management team had worked hard to develop consistency across the resort.

The location was ideal for us, offering amazing views to go with its excellent facilities and within easy walking distance of a variety of of local restaurants as well as into Funchal.

Rooms were spotless, spacious and beautifully presented.

Over our stay there were one or two minor issues which were quickly sorted without fuss.

Look forward to returning.

we are members of the portobay prestige club and return regularly. as always we thoroughly enjoy our visits to this wonderful hotel. this time however there was refurbishment work ongoing at the Cala D'or restaurant which caused noise during the daytime. management apologised and offered everyone affected a bottle of champagne. excellent outcome

A truly fantastic hotel, ticking all the boxes and exceeding expectations. Made the first visit to Madeira worthy of another.

Excellent hotel with fabulous views, excellent staff, good facilities and access for direct swimming into the sea.
Unfortunately the main restaurant was completely closed.
Location is wonderful for exploring Funchal on foot.

Loved every bit of it ! Everything was just perfect ,the location, the hotel ,the room and the amazing staff .A superb birthday treat for our daughter’s 16th birthday.She loved every bit of it!

Our stay at The Cliff Bay was nothing short of sublime. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by comfort, elegance, and exceptional hospitality. Perched above the Atlantic Ocean, the hotel offers breathtaking views, and waking up each morning to see the sparkling sea and the beautiful skyline of Funchal from our balcony was an unforgettable experience.

The communal areas are exquisitely designed and tastefully decorated, creating an atmosphere of understated luxury throughout the hotel. Every space feels calm, refined, and welcoming.

The selection of restaurants was outstanding, each offering a varied menu with beautifully prepared and expertly presented dishes. Whether dining casually or enjoying a more formal meal, the quality of the food and the impeccable service were consistently exceptional.

The spa and fitness facilities are dedicated to wellness, providing the perfect place to unwind and recharge. The pool area, set right beside the sea, is wonderfully peaceful and relaxing, making it easy to spend hours simply enjoying the surroundings.

The staff deserve special recognition. They were warm, attentive, and always on hand to answer questions or help arrange excursions, ensuring every aspect of our stay was effortless and enjoyable.

It was a genuine joy to wake each morning looking forward to another day of harmony and tranquillity. By the end of our stay, we felt thoroughly rested and rejuvenated. Leaving The Cliff Bay was genuinely difficult, and we cannot wait for the opportunity to return.

Lovely setting, high level accomodation, wonderful friendly staff and cuisine to remeber. This is a place that really works on all levels.

This was our first visit to the Cliff Bay and it surpassed our expectations. From the minute you walk in you are looked after, the staff are amongst the best we have encountered. The food in the Rose Garden was excellent each evening, no buffet which was appreciated. We will definitely return
