DISCLAIMER - The following negative review is NOT related to the lodge. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the business & the accommodation that they provide,, this is just something that everyone who plans on visiting Sigiriya should know & be aware off. Again, this has nothing to do with the Gangula Eco Lodge or my experience there.
In the middle of town, across the road from the ATM & the BARISTA cafe are two captive elephants. The people who own these elephants use them to entertain & profit of tourists - letting people ride them, bathe them, pet them & take photos with them - all for a fee of course.
PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT OR CONDONE THIS.
These elephants are abused & show clear signs of distress, they are chained up & left on the side of the road for people to gawk at until the next customer arrives. It is common & public knowledge that it is extremely unethical & barbaric for elephants to live in these conditions. There are still no laws or regulations in place to protect captive elephants in Asia so tourists & travelers need to do their part by being aware & knowledgeable of the mistreatment these animals have to endure as well as not supporting the people & organizations who profit of it. Please do your research before visiting sanctuaries, orphanages or any organizations that claim to care for elephants, as they can be quite deceiving with their marketing & advertisements - if they’re legitimate & truly care for the elephants wellbeing then there is absolutely no way that you can pay to have a close up encounter with one. If you plan to pay for or partake in an any sort of personal encounter with an elephant, whether that be in Sri Lanka or anywhere else in Asia, just know that you are directly funding an industry that profits of the neglect, abuse & suffering of these animals & will continue to do so until they can’t anymore.

Room clean and nice. Good AC. Breakfast in the garden was super. Restaurants and shops very very close. Best relation of the price to quality.

Lighting in the rooms are very low
Erg vriendelijke mensen. Willen je met liefde 's ochtends wegbrengen naar de hike en vroeg om een banaan en kreeg nog een bordje watermeloen mee. Ook iets later uitchecken (in het laagseizoen) was geen enkel probleem. Toen ik in de middag terug kwam gaf ze aan dat ik nog netjes gebruik mocht maken van de douche, ze had de kamer speciaal nog even zo gelaten voor me.
Helaas spreken ze niet zo goed engels waardoor ze me naar de verkeerde berg brachten. Check dat dus goed met de of ze het helemaal begrijpen. Kamer is wat gedateerd maar helemaal prima voor deze prijs.
De yoga foto is denk ik een random foto van gasten, volgens mij geen standaard activiteit.
Quite position, surrounded by trees, birds and sometimes monkeys came on the roof.
The hosts have been nice, giving me suggestions about surroundings and satisfying all my request.
The room was not very clean, with dust and sand a bit everywhere.
The water from the shower had smell of sulfur.

Las instalaciones muy bonitas en medio de la naturaleza.
El desayuno te lo sirven en una cabañita muy maja y muy bueno, esos rotis de Coco buenísimos.
La ubicación muy buena, al lado de una calle principal y al lado de la roca de león.
La entrada es regular a la casa, lleva el móvil a mano para iluminar tu camino

Viel niet tegen maar het kan ietsjes schoner
La ubicación y el entorno es totalmente idílico. Ver a de restaurantes y tiendas. Nos ayudaron a contratar actividades. Las personas eran muy amables y el desayuno estaba muy rico.
Cuando llegamos estaba lleno y nos realojaron en una habitación bastante regular en cuanto a comodidades. Finalmente nos hicieron un descuento en el precio pero deberían indicar en Booking que están llenos.

1泊¥3000程度の金額が安めの宿なので多くは期待しませんでしたが、家族経営のアットホームな宿で、朝食はフルーツも付いてとてもおいしかったです。
敷地から大通りに出るとすぐにスーパーやレストランがあるので、とても便利な場所だと思います。
裏には小川が流れており、森林に囲まれているので、猿多めです。
お湯はぬるかったですが、金額を考えるとこの程度かなと。
wifiは電波の入りも悪く、スピードも結構遅いので不便ではありましたが、のんびり旅行なので問題なかったです。

A mouse ate a piece of my bag in the night while I was sleeping. The noise woke me up but didn't see the mouse. In the morning I found my bag chewed by the mouse.
The hosts are the most wonderful family. We arrived after a long journey and were welcomed with tea and smiles. Our room looked over a little stream and we could watch the monkeys and peacocks, and just felt immersed in nature. The location was amazing, just 15 mins walk to the Sigiriya ticket office and close to lots of great restaurants. The hosts also run a restaurant called Lake View Point which was delicious wirh stunning views! They arranged an amazing safari for us and every day we were welcomed home with warmth. We loved it.
