Charming luxury stay in Madikeri
Pros:

Beautiful location, the views from the lobby and rooms are stunning and captivating. The area is lush green and great for a break from city life.
Top class facilities including pool, gym, spa and nature activities.
Food was very good and priced quite reasonably. All cuisines on offer were delicious and properly made.
Housekeeping services were timely and efficient and the staff was very polite and sincere.
The cottages are spacious and well maintained and the resort has a super premium feel.

Cons:

Nothing in particular but a few suggestions for an enhanced experience:

Window blinds in the rooms need to be automated or curtains need to be put additionally. It's a task to roll the blinds up and down every day as they are big and cumbersome to handle.

Breakfast is very good but the buffet display is limited, lots of items are for table order which needs to be properly explained as guests would not know what all can be ordered. Sometimes the breakfast service gets confusing with missed orders especially if it's crowded so can plan and train the staff better for that.

Some of the resort areas are fairly desolate and there are no means to call a buggy like we were stuck one evening near the outdoor pool area. Need to have some proper arrangements like staff presence or installing hotel phones so that guests unknowingly don't get stuck in the huge resort compound with no means to communicate with the hotel.

Could consider adding high tea or complimentary evening snacks as is the trend in many premium properties especially over the weekend.

Great location & natural beauty; terrible service
Pros:

Great location, majestic views, decent activities for kids

Cons:

Service is exceedingly poor. Essentially, the staff at this hotel, including the restaurant, are a mix of old hands and people who don't know a spoon from a fork. As a result, service was almost always terrible at the restaurant (getting orders horribly wrong, bringing desserts to the table before appetisers, taking exceedingly long to serve a course even after reminding the wait staff several times). Ganesh , Adarsh and a couple of others at the restaurant were good, rest of those who served us were simply incompetent.

As others have mentioned, buggy service can be unreliable, but that's less of an issue if you plan ahead

On day 2, we spotted fresh rat droppings in the pantry in our room. Given it is a forest area, maybe there's some wiggle room on "wildlife" in rooms, but the subsequent changing of rooms was handled terribly.

The surroundings were truly divine, but the horrible service and hygiene issues ruined it for me.

The property owner or Taj group, how they got environmental clearance to run it ?
Pros:

Location as a whole its superb. Food was good. The property is located in midst of Rain forest zones of Western Ghats.

Cons:

Not able to cover or see the entire property .

Pros:

Amazing extensive property with the accommodation largely concealed from view making the forest the star of the show. Great facilities. Would have been good if there had been a place to get food and drink by the outdoor pool without going through room service, but this was a minor issue. We loved our time in Madikeri, thought the morning rainforest walk was great and we even extended our stay as we could not bring ourselves to leave.
