Severe misrepresentation. We booked a Superior Suite but got a cramped, stuffy attic room called The Elissa. The narrow staircase had a heavily soiled carpet with a disgusting, persistent foul odor. The kitchen is just a tiny alcove. Deceptive wide-angle photos completely hide these issues.Due to these unhygienic conditions, we checked out two days early to find safe accommodation for our child. The host refuses to cooperate and sends automated messages asking for 5-star reviews while ignoring that we left early. Avoid this place.

When we arrived, the toilet was leaking from the base. The unit was not clean what so ever. The walls and baseboards had dirt, handprints etc., the shower had dirt on the walls, the tub wouldn’t drain. There was a strong smell of rotten eggs in the bathroom which suggests the sewer gas is leaking through the leaking toilet. When I mentioned it to the property owner, they said they would send someone and for the 3 days we were there, nobody showed up, so my partner had to pull hair out of the drain so we could shower. We also found cockroaches in the unit on the last day. Overall, was a very disappointing and uncomfortable stay.

No number on the building so no way of knowing from the street where it is. The outside of the building looks like a dump. There were no signs ourtside the building to identify th eexact location. There was no one around to talk to to find aout where the building was. There was no way to knwo which door to open from outsode the building. The door lock was non-intuitive and the instructions to unlock the door were vague. Once inside there were no directions or signs to identoy the rooms so no way to knwo whcih door to unlock. No obvious environmental controls and do oinstructions on hwo to use them, even if they worked, whcih they didn't. It was not clear in the booking paperwork that the bathroom was shared. the shower plumbling was broken.

There was a heavy smell of weed, im assuming its because the ac sucks in the air from outside. Maybe uploading a different kind of ac would work better idk. I also saw mold on bathroom ceiling especially closer to curtain bar, which was also rusty, hair dryer was either stolen from a previous customer or wasn’t present at all

What's your worst experience at a hotel? Read below. This is mine.

I informed the guest house I was arriving 7pm. When I got there shortly after, the pin they gave for the digital lock did not work. I messaged the owner but thought it would be easier to call. She picked up immediately, heard my complaint, i.e. I was stuck outside and couldn't get in because the pin number was wrong. She told me to wait... and then nothing. She seemed to have hung up. I called a dozen times and messaged over the next 1.5 hours. No response.

I then called Booking, they said if she does not respond in half an hour, they would refund me. Miraculously, she responded exactly half an hour later. I had been stranded for 2 hours at this point and missed dinner with work colleagues. Her response after two hours, "it's unlocked now."

I guess she felt inconvenienced that I sent her too many messages or called too many times. I was maliciously and intentionally locked out by the owner. I searched around the whole building for help. The restaurant downstairs seems to be closed down.

It left me too afraid to stay at the hotel. If you want real life horror stories, look no further than the 1* reviews for this property, there are 100+. I hadn't even checked in and I am treated like this. What if she did this again? What if she locked me out again and and I could not retrieve my work laptop and personal effects?

Booking told me on Monday night they would request the refund and get back to me by email. I stayed somewhere else. They still haven't refunded me.

I have never had any prior such experience in any hotel or country. Hotels/ guest houses were always accommodating and helpful.

Travellers beware.

Felt cramped, no paper towel, bathroom not that clean, smells of cigarette, small fridge that wasn’t that cold and annoying pole in front of the stairs. WiFi was also really really slow
