It was an actually castle and staff were so
Friendly and good service. Lovely food
Rooms abit dated but it is an actual castle so all good. 👍
The staff were amazing. We had had a very difficult day and they were incredibly supportive.
Lovely hotel and friendly staff
Needs a lift
Breakfast – As expected, a full cooked English breakfast.
Beautiful historical setting, steps away from the town centre of Ruthin.
Room – As this is a historic building, there is no lift, and squeaky floorboards are to be expected. The staff were very helpful and kindly carried both of our suitcases up to our room.
Our room was on the third floor, overlooking the roof terrace where the resident peacocks hang out. Unfortunately, the view immediately outside the window was not particularly pleasant, with rotting timber, peeling paint and bird droppings. That said, we did have a very close encounter with the peacocks through the windows, which was quite a unique experience.
Dinner – Overpriced for the quality. The lamb and steak were overcooked, and the fish was rather tasteless.
Comfortable bed (best ive slept in for a long time) and we travel alot, close to shops, pubs, restaurant at the hotel was great plus bar, loved the old castle and history along side the rabbits and peacocks of the grounds, staff were very welcoming and service was very friendly, dog friendly place which was great as we had our dog with us, breakfast was great can go up for seconds if wanted, we ate at night in the restaurant food was lovely.
The shower to the room didnt have much power to it, slight mould on the tiles round the bath but it is an old place, no hairdryer in the room ( did report to reception on leaving)! ! I could only find 1 bin for dog poop? Should be more located round for ease of disposal. Just minor issues which i have brought up so could possibly be improved for future guests staying!
Really lovely hotel with lots of history. Staff were fantastic and the peacocks wandering around were beautiful to see. Dinner and breakfast were really good.
The mattress was uncomfortable and needs replacing.
Lovely location and it really could be a lovely hotel.
It’s dirty and dated. The windows had mold and it smelt damp. The toilet flush was broken, bath was dirty and it was cold.
Restaurant and Bar very attentive.
Nothing
