Pros:

Hotel is worth every single penny. The facilities, the staff, the food and the room's size &, view - simply unbeatable in that area of Kagoshima. Reaching the hotel with train or bus is an option but a bit of a drag, however, the hotel operates a shuttle to and from Kagoshima station - so make sure to inquire about it if needed. There's also a parking lot (reasonably priced) behind the hotel. All in all, amazing hotel.

surprisingly calming, great view of the volcano.
Pros:

the hotel is excellently located directly facing Sakurajima Volcano. Watching Japan's most active vocano every morning from my room was surprisingly calming. Everyday was a different scene. Evening drinks at the cocktail lounge at the top of the hotel whilst watching the volcano was stunning. Don't be put off by the restaurant name as the food is superb.

Cons:

Spa, massage and facial was very disappointing, and could have been much better. This was a birthday treat and was a let down.
